SUMMARY DUTIES
Reporting to the Vice President of Talent and Culture Development, the Human Resources Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the VRG Airport Division, which being EWR, LGA, BWI, Orlando, and Houston Airport. This individual will ensure that the Airport Division is in compliance with all regulations, including wage/hour, Healthy Terminal Act (where applicable) and specific human resource initiatives as outlined by the Human Resources Department. They will regularly partner with other members of the HR team to map out and complete projects, day-today tasks, strategize and meet company HR goals. The Human Resources Manager is consistently focused on our People, Team Member development. Safety, recruitment, Team Member/Union relations, and teamwork.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position will act as the HR conduit for the Airport Division and the HR function. They will play an active role in the Team Member/Union relations, recruiting/onboarding efforts, training and Safety. It will be the responsibility of the Human Resources Manager to recruit new Team Members, schedule interviews, conduct new Team Member orientations and represent VRG in a positive manner within the airport environment. They shall partner with airport location managers within VRG as well as airport property managers.
- The HR Manager will be responsible for ensuring that each location is following company policy, the Team Member Handbook, or union contract (if applicable).
- This individual will research, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the organization.
- This individual will need to be a PayCom Subject Matter Expert and be able to review and suggest streamlining processes in an effort to better utilize technology and create efficiencies.
- If necessary, this position will act as a back up Issuing Officer (“IO”) for post security airport locations.
- The Human Resources Manager will be the first point of contact for resolving Team Member issues and grievances for the unionized locations.
- Assists with the development of VRG personnel policies and procedures, handbook updates and on-going communication. Must be creative in the design of HR communication, including the use of social media and meme generation.
- Regularly visits Airport Division locations to represent Human Resources, and conduct service/compliance audits.
- Maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
- Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting
- Collaborates with restaurant managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria. Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
- Assists with job posting and advertisement processes, utilizing proactive methods and job boards. This individual must be familiar with the use of technology in the recruiting process. This will include but not be limited to Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), text to apply, video interviewing, and virtual job fairs.
- Source candidates, screen resumes, schedule interviews and select qualified candidates based on the position specification.
- Manage restaurant Applicant Tracking System (Paycom) to maintain clean, organized and up to date data.
- Consistently evaluates existing processes and procedures recommending changes and improvements as needed
Safety/Insurance Claim Management
- The Human Resource Manager will be the Safety Chairperson and play a proactive role in the VRG Safety Program. They will be responsible for the Team Member accident reporting and carrier follow up.
- The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all Team Members are aware of both workplace safety and food safety guidelines.
- This individual will facilitate monthly safety meetings (in-person or remotely) with each airport location and follow up on any action items.
Training/Support
- The HR Manager will be the “Champion of our Culture” and make sure that our Team Members are all working in a positive environment reflecting our Core Values, and VRG Guest Service Standards … iSEE, iSAY, iSMILE.
- Assist with training/supporting the field managers on how to use Paycom technology, specifically the ATS and onboarding functions.
- Support the field managers and team members with general inquiries regarding Paycom technology, VRG University and Team Member recognition.
- Ensure that each Team Member has been trained in required human resources training, operational safety and food safety programs.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or a related discipline
- 3 - 5 years of human resources experience including previous experience in the restaurant or retail industry, preferably in an airport environment. Union experiences desired.
- Experience with HRIS Systems a plus (specifically Paycom)
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Intermediate level MS Office skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
- Strong communication skills and be able to problem solve with both an hourly work force as well as business leaders.
TRAVEL
- Approximately 50% travel, locally and 25% air travel is expected with this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Expectations include working within a typical office environment with computers, phones and other office equipment. Position will be expected to use stairs and elevator to move about the building. Position may be expected to lift 10-15lbs, stand, sit and bend as required
- When traveling, will be able to comfortably move through airports and public transportation stations, transporting luggage, walking, sitting and standing for extended periods of time
- When visiting restaurants, this position will be expected to work in a restaurant environment and adhere to safety procedures (may include malls, shopping, airports and other high traffic venue
