Job description

 

Position Summary

The Human Resource Manager will act both in a strategic and hands-on capacity. In this role, you will provide full cycle HR support to our Williamsport manufacturing plant (3 shifts).  You will partner with plant leadership team to source recruit and onboard top talent, manage employee relations, performance management, compensation and more. As a key member of the team, you will lead the charge for enhancing employee engagement, providing excellent internal customer support and driving HR excellence and process improvement.   

 

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

 

HR Responsibilities

  • Responsible for large volume of local recruiting for new employees and coordinating with managers on hiring requirements.
  • Partner with plant management team on culture & leadership journey driving ASSA ABLOY Caldwell's values.
  • Work closely with Plant Management team to drive natural work teams to continue building an empowered workforce.
  • Lead the work with Supervisors to create a training program that includes a cross training matrix and provides tracking capabilities to ensure employee development is monitored. .
  • Partner with local plant management team on performance management, high potentials, and succession plan.
  • Conduct instructor led training sessions such as required Safety, HR required courses, Benefits, and Professional development courses.
  • Be local health and wellness program champion to administer ASSA ABLOY Caldwell's Wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain personnel, I9, medical and HIPAA files.  Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • New hire orientation, which includes completing appropriate employment forms, reviewing HR polices and benefits and training on safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain employment practices and procedures to ensure their compliance with government regulation, as well as with company policy and objectives.
  • Create regular reports and present to the plant management team on key HR metrics.
  • Develop a consultative role with supervisors in a variety of areas including communication, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation, development, and other challenges.
  • Be a key contact for employee questions and issues, troubleshoot problems and communicate timely.
  • Assist with performance review program and job evaluations to ensure effectiveness.
  • Assist in coordinating worker's comp program which includes, reporting to insurance company, maintaining OSHA log, ensuring completion of accident reports, and follow up with injured employee.
  • Assist in coordinating annual benefit open enrollment process.  Maintain HR Benefits collateral to ensure complete and current information is available.
  • Assist in coordinating employee on-site events such as celebration lunches, Town Hall meetings, and plant-wide activities.
  • Assist in maintaining an atmosphere which encourages diversity, individual and team development, and organizational excellence free from harassment and in compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; assists in maintaining employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assists with compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.   Conduct compensation benchmarking to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.   May manage one direct report.

 

HRIS/Payroll/Time and Attendance Reporting

  • Review and approve weekly time through Paycom for payroll processing, recording time and attendance.
  • Ongoing audit of Maryland and Florida Paycom data for consistency and accuracy.
  • Utilize and maintain Paycom for managing HR employee data, performance management, applicant tracking, and other key modules.

 

Safety Responsibility

  • Prepare OSHA 300 report. 
  • Responsible for compliance with OSHA requirements including training.
  • Maintains SDS database.
  • Ensure annual safety training and all other specifically required training is provided for employees. Conducts comprehensive safety training for new hires and temporary employees.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Strong employee relations experience and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Recruiting experience for hourly and salaried positions
  • Safety Professional/Trainer/Compliance experience.
  • Experience with OSHA reporting.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Desire for and skilled in accurately maintaining a large volume of information.
  • Exhibits helpful, professional, courteous attitude.  Shows genuine concern for resolving issues.
  • Ability to work independently in an environment where interruptions are routine and frequent.
  • Ability to support a three-shift plant operation as needed.

 

Education & Certification

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field is required.  5-7 years of related HR work experience is required.
  • Professional in Human Recourses (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in an HR Manager role in a manufacturing plant preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in all aspects of Human Resources (workforce planning, staffing, recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, performance management, employee relations, and compliance)
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously coupled with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A strong track record of having pride in your work, being adaptable, and consultative.
  • Ability to be nimble and adapt to an ever-changing environment

 

Software Skills

 

  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint abilities preferred.
  • Experience with end-to-end HR system desired.
