In this role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of HR compliance activities including government-related reporting, I9s, and employment policies. Compliance responsibility includes continuously monitoring the federal, state, and local employment law landscape to ensure policies and practices and in compliance and adjusted as needed. You will oversee the Haskell Immigration program, including being the liaison with immigration counsel and managers, ensuring compliance with Haskell immigration policies, and educating managers on the processes. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in HR Compliance, including those related to being a federal contractor
  • Manage and oversee the US immigration process as a key contact with outside counsel and ensure Haskell’s immigration practices are followed
  • Oversee and complete required government reporting, such as AAP, EEO-1, Vets-4212
  • Stay up to date on compliance laws impacting the company at the federal (DOL, OFCCP, etc), state, and local levels and implement programs and processes to stay compliant as needed
  • Maintains the Team Member Handbook and HR Operations policies, including drafting new policies as necessary
  • Educates, trains, and provides tools to managers to help them better understand the immigration sponsorship program
  • Create and manage reports to illustrate Haskell’s immigration practice participation across the enterprise
  • Manage the immigration process for team members assigned to Canada or the Caribbean
  • Work closely with the international HR team to monitor the progress and status of immigration processes outside of the US, and manages internal needs with US-based staff based on the direction of international HR
  • Oversee routine compliance tasks with assistance from HR Ops including unemployment claims, employment verifications, WOTC, random drug screens, programs, employment posters, job description I9s etc.
  • Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities and risks and effectively document processes and related controls
  • Oversee and lead HR audits and other HR activities as needed

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in HR compliance and immigration or a similar field

 Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, with the ability to effectively conduct research where necessary
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to synthesize information and make recommendations efficiently
  • Tendency to continuously seek improvement and look for opportunities to improve processes and programs

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
