HR Generalist
Job Summary:
Our client in Troy, MI is looking for an HR Generalist. This is a Contract position and temporary to cover maternity leave.
This position will be responsible for efficiently managing payroll processing, benefits administration, and overseeing our HR Systems including HRIS, LMS, health/benefit employer portals, and ESS portal. Precision, confidentiality, and outstanding support to employees and the HR team are essential for this position.
Payroll Administration:
• Accurately process and manage the biweekly payroll for 100 employees, including hourly and salary employee.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Address payroll inquiries and discrepancies promptly.
Company Benefits Administration:
• Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
• Facilitate orientation sessions for new employees and open enrollment, manage the enrollment process for medical, dental, vision, and ancillary benefits through online systems.
• Assists and maintains the coordination of company wellness program initiatives, health savings account (HAS) and flexible spending account (FSA) funding.
• Assist employees with benefit-related inquiries, enrollments, and changes.
• Assist with coordinating annual open enrollment processes.
• Assist with tuition reimbursement administration.
Management of Leave Policies:
• Administer and monitor various leave programs such as FMLA, STD, LTD, ADA, paid parental leave, and military leave.
• Handle employee inquiries and requests related to FMLA leave, ensuring proper coordination.
• Collaborate with health insurance providers to oversee and monitor short-term disability (STD) claims.
New Employee Integration/Onboarding:
• Aid in organizing and monitoring pre-employment background checks and drug screenings for new hires.
• Manage the onboarding procedure with new employees, including the completion of necessary documents like Form I-9.
• Conduct new employee orientation sessions, whether in person or virtually.
Employee Departure Process:
• Manage termination procedures, including communication with relevant parties and updating internal systems.
• Aid in the retrieval of company-owned items during the offboarding process.
Learning Management System (LMS) Management:
• Input new employees into the LMS system and allocate mandatory compliance training modules.
• Monitor and guarantee the completion of designated courses.
• Support the development and upload of customized training modules.
Compliance Oversight and Recordkeeping:
• Manage precise and current HR records and documentation.
• Guarantee adherence to pertinent labor laws and regulations.
• Aid in audits and compliance reporting when required.
Employee Support:
• Act as a reference point for employees concerning HR policies, procedures, and general queries.
• Aid in resolving employee concerns related to payroll and benefits.
• Verification of Employment.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing payroll and benefits for a workforce of 100 or more employees.
• Proficiency in using payroll software is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated proficiency in numerical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to review and reconcile benefits invoices.
• Proven organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary.
• Ability to maintain integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all actions.
• Thorough understanding of payroll-related laws and regulations.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Proficiency in or quick ability to learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
