Position Description Summary:


Jacobsen|Daniels is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to guide and facilitate human resource processes. The HR Generalist is responsible for providing general support across the entire human resources function, with an emphasis on reporting and tracking metrics from various HR systems, benefit administration, leave management tracking, timesheet and payroll tracking/correction, compliance with employment laws and regulations across various states, required reporting to various government agencies, and routine communication with HR vendors. This role reports to the HR Manager and collaborates with the firm’s HR and finance teams. The HR Generalist will also interact with senior leadership across various teams.


The HR Generalist will maintain high levels of integrity and confidentiality as they will be responsible for the protection of sensitive information and must possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of best practices in human resources.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development, review, implementation and interpretation of human resources policies, practices, procedures, and programs in accordance with the company’s strategic direction and legal requirements. Helps ensure HR policies and practices are applied in a consistent manner across the company.
  • Provides internal support to employees and supervisors, and partnership to the HR team
  • Assists with managing responsibilities that impact the employee lifecyle to include recruitment, onboarding, training and separation from the company
  • Professionally and diplomatically respond to HR inquiries and requests from internal and external parties in a timely manner
  • Answers questions regarding policies, processes and other pertinent HR information
  • Manages day-to-day benefits administration; coordinates benefits open enrollment events, and serves as a liaison between employees and insurance carriers to resolve problems and clarify benefits.
  • Provides support to employees and develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package
  • Provides guidance to supervisors on disciplinary matters up to and including termination decisions
  • Reviews and reconciles benefits invoices, union dues invoices, and other invoices
  • Understands and implements requirements outlined in Collective Bargaining Agreements for affected team members. J|D has several worksites that are governed by CBAs.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures for continuous improvement in efficiency and services performed
  • Analyzes internal employee data to identify trends and areas of improvement with attrition, workforce management, metrics, and present the information to various leadership teams
  • Assists with the preparation and implementation of the performance review process and analysis of performance data to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and provides information and reports as requested, including assisting in preparing reports to management, for audits, and filings. Familiarity with Paylocity or other HRIS system is required.
  • Assists with and prepares correspondence as requested that may be utilized in arbitration .
  • Maintains personnel records in a compliant and efficient manner
  • Practices J|D values and promotes a professional, respectful, and inclusive culture.
  • Seeks executive leadership guidance on complex HR issues, sensitive situations, and/or as needed to effectively handle day-to-day matters.
  • Serves as a point of contact in the absence of teammates, which requires understanding of all responsibilities within the human resources team
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion

  • Knowledge in federal state, and other governing employment laws and regulations as well as demonstrated resourcefulness to learn and remain current on governing federal, multi-state, county, and local regulations
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of employment compliance and record-keeping
  • Familiarity with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its guidelines, regulations and standards to ensure compliance for the company
  • Ability to assist with the development and implementation of trainings and employee surveys
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll, compensation, benefits, policies and employment handbooks, safety/worker’s compensation, and talent management administration
  • Ability to effectively communicate HR-related matters both orally and in writing with employees and management;
  • Strong attention to detail with high quality standards
  • Documentation and organization skills
  • Ability to perform and adapt in a fast-paced fluid environment
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines as directed
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects at once and prioritize tasks
  • Demonstrated self-starter with strong critical thinking/analytical skills, excellent follow-through and execution
  • Ability to interact in group settings, using judgement and discretion, and to always represent the company in a professional manner
  • Ability to work with multi-cultural and diverse individuals/teams, to include hourly and salaried employees
  • Excellent computer and software application skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS/HRMS, Payroll, Talent Management)
  • Ability to attentively listen, learn and effectively apply new information and skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision required


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience, is preferred.

At least five years related work experience required.

SHRM or SHRM-CP credential preferred.

Reporting Location/Working Conditions:

Position reports to the HR Manager or other member of senior leadership designated during the hiring or annual review process.
