SUMMARY:
The HR Business Partner is responsible for supporting Principals, Deans, and Managers throughout the organization with employee related matters. They also should be instrumental in developing and implementing strategic initiatives and goals for each leader they support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and oversee strategic initiatives to better serve our customers.
- Ensure that NHA's Core Values are being adhered to by all staff, including yourself.
- Effectively roll out changes to each team with well thought strategic objectives and clear communication that will be received well by customers.
- Provide guidance on employee related matters (employee misconduct, employee poor performance, employee concerns, policy explanation, and other employee related matters).
- Proactively review and address employee engagement. This includes creating and implementing initiatives that will effectively address the needs of our staff.
- Understand and manage the talent available at each location. Effectively prepare and pipelining talent for upcoming vacancies or building needs.
- Write corrective action plans, warnings, performance letters, documented concerns, and other communications to employees.
- Responsible for approving the termination of employment and assisting leaders throughout the termination process.
- Assist leaders in position eliminations and FTE reductions by walking them through the legalities and expectation of these position eliminations and FTE reductions.
- Assist other People Services Teams with guidance around employee related matters (Handling difficult phone conversations, conflict resolution, and guidance with challenging employee matters.)
- Organize and prepare documentation for employee personnel file as necessary.
- Draft school specific policies and procedures.
- Assist in employee dispute resolution.
- Provides leaders with resources and guidance to coach and support their direct reports.
- Meets with school leaders at their school in order to observe daily proceedings, provide guidance on employee matters, and ensure compliance with policies and practices.
- Administers unemployment compensation process as needed, including attending hearings. Helps team determine steps to take with difficult unemployment matters in determining whether or not to contest matters.
- Provides guidance and support to school leaders and managers on employee evaluations. Reviews performance evaluations on a regular basis to address low performing employees.
- Own and assist in projects on key indicatives in the organization to help improve the practices of the organization.
- Ensures that the Employee Handbook is updated and is in compliance with state and Federal laws.
- Complete data requests on employee relations matters (employee discipline, vacancies, engagement results, attendance, employee demographics, etc.)
- Assess and minimize risk with a variety of employee relations issues for team.
- Train and develop leaders on human resources' practices.
- Looks for ways to improve human resources processes through researching new and upcoming trends, practices, laws, and policies.
- Develops presentations and delivers presentations to leaders and employees on a variety of topics.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources Role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Business Management area of study.
- Human Resource Certification preferred but not required.
- Experience with employee discipline and termination proceedings.
- Proficient use of HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel 20% - 30% of the time. Could be more based on needs of organization.
- Attention to detail and organization.
- Able to prioritize and manage a wide variety and high quantity of tasks at any given time.
- Both verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with leaders in order to attain "trusted advisor" status.
- Up to date on employee laws and trends.
- Calm demeanor and approach in difficult and trying situations.
- Must have a full knowledge of human resources practices and trends.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to lead project teams and keep projects on track.
- Presentation skills.
- Must be able to provide guidance and to coaching team members in a way to help and benefit their growth.
- Must be knowledgeable of HR profession especially that of the employee relations field in order to provide guidance and support to team.
