The HRBP will partner with the management teams of assigned business divisions to assist in optimizing people, strategy, structure, process and culture and to deliver HR services and programs as appropriate. Provides direct associate relations support in partnership with leadership of assigned business divisions. Strive to improve engagement levels and continuously improve talent.
The HRBP will provide quality advice and consultative services to managers and other staff regarding Burlington's Human Resources programs and services including HR operations; internal staffing and recruitment; succession planning; compensation; benefits; training and development; diversity; total rewards; performance management; employee relations; organizational development and company sponsored programs.
Responsibilities:
- Positively communicate and demonstrate the company's Core Values by developing trust and respect among peers and staff, building strong teams and partnerships and driving results
- Provide guidance and input regarding HR strategies that support the vision, culture and business needs of the organization
- In partnership with business leaders, execute all HR programs
- Act as the key interface between HR functional specialist and assigned corporate group in order to proactively support and add value in the delivery of business objectives
- Build trusting consultative relationships with employees and management
- Manage all generalist duties for the assigned areas including policies and procedures, leadership skills and development, performance management, terminations and benefits
- Support the business teams in establishing and executing an effective talent strategy (short and long term) and work in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team
- Inspire, coach, and influence coaching in the moment culture to effectively improve the quality and frequency of developmental feedback and improve the performance appraisal experience
- Administer and provide coaching to business leaders in managing engagement survey results and developing meaningful and effective action plans to improve engagement results
- Coordinate performance management program by ensuring performance expectations and policy guidelines are being met and are conducted effectively and in a timely manner
- Handle various employee relations issues, such as investigating employees complaints, resolving employee conflicts and advising appropriate action to management
- Serve as a resource to team members for answering general benefit questions and provide advice on unemployment hearings and workers' compensation hearings
- Partner with internal and/or external legal counsel to prepare for and/or respond to any legal action or complaints filed by outside agencies; attend mediations, arbitrations, and other court proceedings as needed
- Develop and maintain HR metrics
- Leverage analysis of turnover to proactively identify issues within the business and develop plans to address and minimize controllable turnover.
- Ensure effective on boarding of new associates to include partnership with business leaders to provide effective and appropriate training and team integration.
Our ideal candidate:
- Will have a Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of HRBP or generalist experience.
- PHR or SPHR certification and 3+ years of retail HR experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of Human Resources Management
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence teams, build effective relationships, and possess skills to flex style and interact with associates effectively
- High level of integrity and the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
- Ability to coach, support, and develop team coordinators
- Ability to prioritize challenging demands and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Prompt in responding to issues
- Must have strong business acumen
- Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations governing employment (EEO, wage and hour, employee benefits, leave policies and practices)
- Ability to conduct investigations, train and develop staff and maintain documentation in an organized manner
- Ability to provide and receive critical feedback for growth of associates and self
- Must have strong communications and operating instincts, good strategic skills, sound business judgment and the ability to achieve goals by leveraging HR expertise
- Knowledge of human resources systems and payroll systems (i.e., Workday)
- Ability to utilize tools (Workday/TMS/Kenexa) to leverage data
- Must be proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook+
