What we want
The Housing Operations Coordinator for Campus Living & Learning is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Housing Operations in oversight of residence hall buildings and spaces. This includes but is not limited to building, space, and furniture inspections and working collaboratively with appropriate entities to address custodial, maintenance, and facility needs to maintain the best living and learning environment for students living on campus. This is a live-on position that will participate in the campus on-call rotation and serve as essential personnel. The position is designed to handle emergency response and physical inspection of spaces if/when they break, but also focuses on prevention.

Salary: $40,062.96 annually

Other Factors: Live on campus in Residence Hall Apartment. Some required weekend/evening responsibilities. Serves on an on-call rotation. In the case of hurricane or other campus change or closure, possible relocation may be required.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of experience in student affairs work or related specialty.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of business technology - word-processing, MS/Google suite of tools, etc.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • The ability to work with various groups on campus - especially with contracted 3rd party vendors - is a must for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs-related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Housing and operations or a Student Affairs related field at a professional/graduate level.

Essential Duties/Tasks
  • Coordination: Works collaboratively with all entities (including SSC and contracted companies) having responsibility for the upkeep, safety and compliance of university on-campus housing to ensure residence hall buildings receive the best possible care and services. Monitors the progress and completion of work orders submitted regarding departmental spaces and buildings. Coordinates the selection and approval of furniture and equipment purchases for the department. Assists the Assistant Director of Housing Operations, such as: planning of preventative maintenance, rotating renovations and construction projects within the residence halls. Collaborates with Housing Coordinators to ensure the timely completion of submitted residential work orders. Supervises student staff. Performs and coordinates various necessary inspections, conducts site visits, and represents Campus Living & Learning at meetings regarding services provided by SSC for maintenance, renovation, and construction projects. Provides needed assistance and redundancy with StarRez software and housing assignments.
  • Communication: Serves as the liaison between students and facilities staff. Communicates timelines for substantial repairs within residential rooms. Organizes residence hall opening and closing with other live-on staff. Schedules the completion of safety walkthroughs. Maintains signage and community spaces in residence hall buildings. Coordinates modification of spaces for approved ADA accommodation requests based on student need.
  • Educational Leadership: Takes part in a Divisional Curriculum by planning, developing and implementing educational programs within the residence halls. Programming and marketing initiatives will center Housing Operations as well as safety (fire, weather, coastal humidity, etc.), and crisis management. May serve as a conduct officer when needed.
  • Campus/Student Involvement: Attends, participates in, and helps plan numerous Student Activities events (New Student Conference, Fall Festival, Howdy Week, etc.) Assists in the presentation of leadership workshops/campus orientations and other presentations as needed. Serves on campus committees. May advise various student groups.
  • On-Call/Crisis Management: Lives in on-campus provided apartment. Responds to campus emergencies and works on-call shift 1-2 weeks and weekends a month. This position is considered essential personnel in the event of a crisis response incident.
