Job description

Our dynamic Hospitality Team strives to create a pleasurable dining experience for all guests and prides itself on exceptional food quality and outstanding customer service.

Under the direction of the Hotel Restaurant Manager, the Hotel Dining Host provides pleasant, efficient guest service while seating guests in the restaurants, taking guests’ food orders and collecting payment for services rendered.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Responsible for creating the ultimate, memorable guest experience by providing exceptional service to every patron; interacts and entertains in an enthusiastic and engaging manner.

· Acts as an ambassador of the venue; markets all products offered to the targeted customer base.

· Provides timely service in a friendly and courteous manner to all guests within the Venue; greets guests and takes their orders utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques.

· Responsible for a bank to receive payment from and give change to guests.

  • Counts down bank in drawer at the end of the shift and bags the money. Delivers money bag and transaction report (ran by your supervisor) to the Money Room for counting and verification, upon completion locate a Supervisor to run a reset.

· Ensures that register area is kept clean and safe at all times. Assists in the clean-up of work area.

Ensures equipment is in proper working order.

· Must pass service standards, food, liquor, wine, beer and alcohol awareness and point of sales tests with scores of 90% or better, before working solo shift: then periodic quizzes and tests thereafter.

  • Coordinates seating and activities of the dining room to provide fast and courteous service to guests. Maintains knowledge of daily specials.
  • Answers the phone by the third ring with “Thank you for calling (Name of Venue), this is (your name) how may I help you?”
  • Greets guests in a timely manner with a smile, makes eye contact, escorts them to tables, and provides a menu (where applicable).
  • Seat guests making sure to rotate among servers always taking guest requests into consideration.
  • Ensures table tops are clean and organized prior to seating guests.
  • Assists servers whenever possible with pre-bussing, beverages and refills, and expediting food orders.
  • Communicates with servers, that their tables have been seated.
  • Arranges tables for large groups and provides special services upon request; i.e. birthdays, anniversaries.
  • Inspects dining room tables for cleanliness before seating guests; i.e. clean ashtrays, chair seats and floors.

· Takes room service orders.

  • Assists with special projects as directed by the manager including, monthly meetings, special banquets, concerts, and special guests.

· Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional. If not dressed properly, may be sent home.

  • Notifies immediate supervisor of any problems and or concerns.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization & preparedness of immediate workspace and adjacent areas and assists team members when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Minimum two (2) year host/cashier experience in a high volume entertainment bar restaurant with high quality food, extensive beer and spirits offering preferred.

· Must be at least 21 years of age.

· Must have good basic mathematical, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work well with others.

· Must present a neat, clean, and well groomed appearance in a company issued work uniform in accordance with departmental policy.

· Must be reliable, pleasant and possess a good attitude.

· Must have a warm, inviting and engaging personality and be comfortable in a restaurant setting

· Must possess excellent customer service and communications skills.

  • Exemplary customer service skills and demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively, and work well with others.

· Be able to provide good service in sometimes-difficult situations.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

· Must provide Right To Work documents;

· Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handler’s Card within 90 days of employment.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions – Environment

· Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled restaurant environment.

· Work hours and days may vary to meet business needs.

· Employee may be exposed to highly stressful situations where a great deal of tact and diplomacy is necessary.

· Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.

· Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, and over the telephone.

· Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations of facilities, guests and employees. Use close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

· Strength sufficient to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Work requires intermittent sitting, standing and/or stooping as well as bending, crouching or stooping.

· Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are: balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, repetitive motions.

· Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

· The employee will experience moderate to loud noise levels.

· The employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
