Summary

A Winery & Hotel Host is a self-motivated and hospitality-oriented individual. In this position the host will oversee the guest experience on the property. Hosts will be responsible for overseeing the experience of the overnight guest as well as day to day winery guests. The ideal candidate is hospitality oriented, proactive, driven, focused, and able to collaborate as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet all guests promptly and graciously and provide knowledgeable, consistent and courteous responses to questions, complaints and/or problems.
  • Promote and sell Shepherd’s Run wines and merchandise by assisting and educating guests in tasting wines and making purchasing decisions.
  • Fulfill customer orders and use both a PMS and POS system to complete sales transactions.
  • Setup tasting bar with necessary supplies for daily operations. Wash tasting glasses and assist with other pre-opening and closing shift duties.
  • Serve food programing ordered by guests including hotel guest breakfast, following all appropriate food handling procedures
  • Efficiently and accurately enter registration information for hotel guest stays.
  • Follow proper procedures related to collection of payment, dates of stay and guest contact information over the phone and in person.
  • Complete check-out transactions and post charges to folios with guests in a friendly manner and invite them to return again soon.
  • Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
  • Follows all OSHA Safety and all Health and state regulations and requirements for the industry and maintains a safe and secure work environment.
  • Holds a valid Rhode Island TIPs Certification
  • Reports any issues that require maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Inn and Vineyard as directed by the General Manager and the Managing Director.

A strict adherence to this safety standard is required without exception. If something cannot be done safely it is the duty of an employee to ask for help before initiating the task.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have the ability to lift and/or carry at least 50-lbs
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Basic knowledge of wine and wine service
  • Physical stamina for being on your feet throughout shifts; Must be able to walk and stand during entire shift; Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, mop floors and wipe surfaces.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Must be able to stay focused, alert, upbeat, outgoing and positive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with guests and other team members.
  • Must be able to work effectively within a team.
  • Able to work with a small team in a supportive, productive and positive atmosphere.
  • Able to support other departments and cross train as needed depending on business demands
