Responsibilities include customer service for Lab related questions. It is expected the laboratory services are performed efficiently and accurately, and that all University, Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) and departmental policies are strictly adhered to. Errors in these laboratory services can be dangerous to patients and could be extremely disruptive to the patient, the individuals caring for the patient, and the laboratory staff. This position performs all duties in a manner that denotes the team concept and reflects the UCSF and ZSFG mission, vision and values.
The job will involve the ability to lift up to 60 lbs., pull up to 25 lbs.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Graduation from college with coursework in biology or chemistry, plus 1 year of experience in the kind of work to be performed or equivalent combination of education/experience and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
- Recent experience (2 years) operating and maintaining laboratory instruments
- Knowledge of medical/clinical laboratory terminology
- Thorough knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work with statistical systems, such as EP Evaluator
- Ability to communicate clearly in the English language both verbally and written
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- BS degree in biology or chemistry
- 1 year of appropriate clinical laboratory experience
- Ability to assist and process bone marrow specimens
