A lovely family in Montecito, CA is seeking a highly qualified nanny-governess for their delightful 7-year-old daughter. They would prefer to find a live-in candidate who will reside on property in a separate guest house. The days and hours are to be determined, but at this time the projection is Monday through Friday with some weekend flexibility as needed. The child is in school during the day from 8:20am-3pm so the hours will generally be in the morning assisting with getting the child off to school and then later in the afternoons when she returns from school, up until her bedtime between 7:30pm-8pm. Position can start whenever a fantastic fit is found, but they are happy to wait until end of August 2024 to fill the role.
The child is sweet, fun, and kind. She loves animals and rides horses competitively. She is involved in a lot of activities. The candidate to hire will be responsible to create lesson plans and outings enriching the child's social-emotional-mental-physical development and piquing her curiosity-specifically, during days off from school or while traveling it will be important for the nanny-governess to spearhead this. The candidate to hire must be a self-starter and has no problem wearing multiple hats when needed; must be well organized as they will need to keep the child's room, closet, and toys tidy and always organized; and must assist with wardrobe and packing/unpacking for trips. The child has a dairy and egg allergy; the child is no longer anaphylactic and has an epi pen that they've never had to utilize, but nevertheless the candidate to hire must be aware and sensitive to these allergies. The ideal fit for this role is a teacher/has a teaching background; someone passionate about overseeing the child's education and working on emotional self-regulation and developmental needs; will give appropriate guidance during social interactions; and be mindful of encouraging/implementing manners/etiquette. It is a bonus if the candidate to hire is British; speaks a second language (French preferred); plays a musical instrument (the child takes piano lessons so piano would be ideal); someone who is well-traveled; and of course, very experienced working with children specifically as a nanny-governess. The candidate to hire must be a good example to the child; be nurturing, warm, fun and creative; be well spoken; be presentable in dress and conduct (I.E., professional working attire); be an overall fantastic support to parents; and be current on CPR/First Aid certifications. The family has another home in New York they reside in during the Summer from June to August; they will be in Montecito from September through May. They also travel to Europe for 2-4 weeks during the Summer. Therefore, the candidate to hire must be able to travel domestically and internationally and be US Passport ready. This is an animal friendly home with 3 dogs (1 Maltipoo, 1 Pomerian, 1 Australian Shepherd) and perhaps at times they will need an extra hand with the dogs but this is not required.
Accommodations include a guest house (detached on the back of the property and includes a bedroom/bathroom/kitchenette) and please note the guest house is just for the nanny-governess, not additional family members or pets. The salary to be considered for this role is $80k-100k depending on qualifications. The family may consider a higher salary than this, but candidate would need to meet ALL qualifications including speaking French and having an elementary school level teaching background, etc. Benefits include 2 weeks vacation to be taken during the summer and 5 sick days. There may be some holidays off but the candidate to hire should be flexible to work a holiday if the need arises and/or is traveling with the family during that time. The family also provides a credit card to be used for childcare-related/working expenses and a large SUV vehicle when working/transporting the child. During time off, the nanny-governess will utilize their own personal vehicle. If relocating, the family will help with relocation shipping costs and airfare.
