Form of workA lovely, down-to-Earth family in Cow Hollow, San Francisco, CA is seeking a fantastic live-in housekeeper as their current cherished housekeeper of many years is retiring. They have a home in Healdsburg (Wine Country) 1 hour away they reside in on the weekends and 3 months in the summer as well as an apartment in NYC, however, the main home base is in Cow Hollow. They are open to relocating a live-in housekeeper from anywhere in America for the most wonderful fit. The role begins in January.
The family is comprised of 2 parents, a 3-year-old, an almost 1-year-old as well as another baby due summer 2024. They have a very loving home and seek to bring someone on board who will be treated "like family". The schedule is full-time and flexible on those full-time hours. The projected schedule is working 3 days during the week and 2 weekend days, with the candidate choosing two consecutive days to have off such as Tuesday & Wednesday or Wednesday & Thursday. However, for the weekends, they will give free time to go to church or special social occasions that come up for the candidate. They can be flexible, but please do expect to work weekends with hourly schedule to be somewhat flexible. They can also offer 1 weekend off a month. When working weekends, the role will be at their Healdsburg home. If the family is traveling without the candidate to hire, then they may have the weekend off.
The family enjoys having friends, visitors, family, and lots of people around. Everyone chips in and takes care of each other. They all do the dishes; they all pick up after themselves. This said, they have two large homes that require care and as they often have guests things can get messy—especially on the weekends. The family enjoys family meals and invites anyone working with them to join their table, but will not pressure you to eat with them when you prefer to do your own thing. They are warm and like to have people around. They believe in teaching their children to be loving to others, to respect their elders and to respect all types of work. They do not wish to take anyone or anything for granted. They aim to have family meals, to read, to be creative, curious & prioritize learning. They wish to share this with a live-in employee they can love and become of the family. They want to teach their children chores, to care for their home and that no work is beneath them. They foster the environment that their housekeeper is loved, respected, and cherished, and they want a long-term relationship for decades to come. They are committed to see anyone in their home be happy and fulfilled in their family.
About the home and housekeeper accommodations: in San Francisco they have a 6-bedroom home with a separate and private two stories for a housekeeper to live comfortably. This separate space includes a gym, kitchen/den, and private bathroom. In Healdsburg, they have a separate guest house with kitchen, living room and ensuite bathrooms. They do ask for flexibility in Healdsburg as sometimes the guest house will be needed to be shared with visitors and lovely in-laws.
About the ideal candidate to hire and job duties: they're seeking an excellent high-energy housekeeper with the stamina to clean daily. This includes vacuuming, doing laundry, changing the bed sheets, tidying up, watering the plants, organizing, and managing the trash daily. They will have a full-time au-pair starting in February and a live-in baby nurse for infant care for the first 6 months after the baby is born in the summer. Although they have a full-time nanny, childcare needs can pop up if she is sick, traveling, or simply needs an extra hand. The role therefore requires someone who loves and enjoys being around kids. They seek a "second pair of hands" who is flexible and will jump in if they see a need. This means the candidate to hire may be asked to pick up the eldest daughter from school one day, or make sure the children are fed if the au pair is off. In Healdsburg they'd also expect food prep and help with caring for food items related to hosting. This means, chopping vegetables for a big dinner, running to the store to grab a forgotten ingredient, and setting and clearing the table for a big family meal. The job is very much a housekeeper first, but they seek flexibility as other needs pop up. The family travels often and unexpectedly. They would need the housekeeper to manage the needs of the house while they're away to include duties such as feeding and caring for the dog, watering the plants, etc. The candidate to hire must have experience prior as a live-in housekeeper.
Compensation and benefits for this role includes a guaranteed $2,000 weekly, all meals at the home provided for, and they foresee giving 2 weeks’ vacation but likely more than this as they do travel. They do not offer health insurance, but they are open to considering health insurance after a proven timeline of work. The candidate to hire will be paid on the books and through a payroll service.
