Hitachi Storage Engineer -SME - Atlanta Based - Hybrid
- Most important - Candidate must be Hitachi experienced
- Full time 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week + emergency call
- Atlanta Based – Supporting Government Agency Data Center

- Works remotely will only need to be onsite for Installs, Deinstalls and emergencies

Duties and Responsibilities:
Storage Engineer to support a government customer on an existing-on premises application support contract.
This role is responsible for
- Supporting SAN, NAS & DAS hardware and software for storage, specifically Hitachi, Cisco and Brocade fabric architectures and tiered multi-protocol storage models.
- Supporting design and documentation of backup/restore strategies via enterprise class backup solutions and automated library systems.
- Implementing and supporting SAN, DAS, and NAS Infrastructure (including installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, and maintenance & monitoring).
- Maintain contact with vendors for hardware and software installation and troubleshooting.
- Designing and implementing storage for one or more enterprise services such as MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS SQL, Active Directory, Windows Server, Oracle, Oracle DRA/CA.
- Managing storage in a VMware and Red Hat virtualization environment.
- Managing and providing near real time storage usage statistics, storage management and capacity management and providing future projected growth estimates.
- Participating in planning initiatives for system testing and Configuration.
- Following Enterprise Change Management Procedures.
- Recommending, implementing, and deliver technology solutions based on analysis and business requirements aligned with IT Strategy.
- Managing storage provisioning to endpoints (including, but not limited to, Windows, Linux, and virtualized servers).
- Installing and configuring disk storage systems,
- Managing fiber channel SAN switches and directors; well versed in fiber channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS.
- Monitoring and correcting storage performance issues.
- Responsible for capacity planning and performance analysis.
- Aiding cross-functionally in support of Windows, Linux, and ESXi disk performance troubleshooting and optimization.
- Participating in 24x7 on-call rotation with weekends and night availability required as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Years of Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years professional experience.
Required and Desired Skills/Certifications
- 5+ years experience with Hitachi, EMC, NetApp, EMC, Cisco Storage, components and systems.
- 5+ years experience in the plan, design, configuration and support of large and diverse enterprise storage requirements.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) management to include capabilities and technologies such as: Fiber Channel zoning, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) unified fabric, HBA/CNA (Host Bus Adapter/Converged Network Adapter), storage controllers, and LUN (Logical Unit Number), RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), and file sharing / NAS (Network Addressable Storage).
- 5+ years hands-on experience with enterprise hierarchical storage system management
- 3+ years hands-on experience with Brocade DCX backbone switches.
- Knowledge and experience with current compute/ network/ storage modeling.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Additional Requirements
- 5+ years performing capacity planning, performance analysis and development of compute/network/storage infrastructure disaster recovery plans.
- Knowledge and understanding of storage protocols and hardware including but not limited to iSCSI, Fiber Channel, CIFS, NFS and NDMP.
- Broad familiarity of all storage systems and backup environments.
