About Our School
Vertex Partnership Academies seeks to develop virtuous High School graduates who have acquired the habits, knowledge and sense of personal agency necessary to lead self-determined, purposeful lives of American and global citizenship. Our vision is to develop internationally-minded, tenacious learners guided by the four cardinal virtues of Courage, Justice, Temperance, and Wisdom. The founding campus opened in the Bronx in 2022 with only 9 th graders and is serving the 9th -10th graders in the 2023-24 school year. Vertex will empower each student scholar to choose either: (1) the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program that prepares them to enroll and thrive in premier colleges and universities in the country or abroad; or (2) the International Baccalaureate Careers Program that prepares them to graduate with a professional credential and directly enter the labor market with skills in a variety of high-demand areas. Vertex uses the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in grades 9 and 10 to prepare students for the Diploma and Career Programs in the 11th and 12th grade.
Vertex Partnership Academies is a Candidate School* for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy-a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education that Vertex Partnership Academies believes is important for our students.
Culture of Continuous Improvement

  • Professional Development for 3 weeks before meeting students
  • Instruction for students for 1 week in August before the fall session begins
  • Student led family conferences three times a year (no instruction on these days)

Responsibilities

• Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the academic team and Vertex staff
• Construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept driven, inquiry-based teaching and learning
• Attend to high impact instructional practices (cognitive lift, appropriate demand of task, student centered discussions, clear formative assessment, and feedback)
• Build caring relationships and rapport with students and staff
• Participate in community-based projects and school field trips
• Ensure all assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant, and appropriate feedback to students
• Demonstrate effective classroom management
• Proactively communicate with families about student learning
• Supervise students' individual Personal Projects and service requirements
• Lead an advisory group of students in a specified grade level
• Enthusiastically participate and contribute thoughtfully in Professional Development

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education or relevant subject
• Master's degree preferred
• Teaching Certificate preferred (middle or High School)
• International Baccalaureate experience preferred
• A passion for working with adolescent learners, flexible attitude, and a sense of humor
• A passion for education and designing and implementing language instruction for learners with are acquiring English as an additional language
• Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style
• A commitment to viewpoint diversity, open inquiry, and experiential-based pedagogy
• A willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills

This role is a full-time, in-person opportunity. As an employee, you are eligible for a benefits package, inclusive of paid time off, paid holidays and a retirement plan. The salary range for this position is $67,000-$108,000, which will be based on the candidate's years of full-time lead teaching experience and credentials.
