The Breakers High School Students Internship will expose you to how a high-volume luxury property operates. Students must be at least 16 years of age to apply to Category I or II and at least 18 years old to apply to Category IV.
Category I: Recreation/Golf Operations
The Recreation Internship is a rotation between Pool Beach Operations, Activities, Golf and Spa. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors and in all climates. The following responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
- Provide towels to our guests, fold clean towels and dispose of dirty towels
- Remove beverages and trash from the pool deck
- Clean furniture and equipment
- Set up family events and assist with execution
- Monitor and sanitize the arcade
- Sanitize golf carts
- Assist with movement and counting of product inventory
Category II: Retail
The Retail Internship will place you as a Sales Associate in one of three outlets: Mary Lily’s, News & Gourmet and/or Main Street. Students must be able to work a minimum of 2 days per week during school year.
- Greet and build rapport with guests
- Assist members and guests in our retail stores and appropriately suggest merchandise
- Move and count product inventory
Category IV: Food & Beverage
Students must be at least 18 years of age to work in any of our Restaurants. You will be placed in one of the 10 outlets as a Food Server Assistant or Host/Hostess
Food Server Assistant
- Exhibits energy, a friendly demeanor, and excellent foot speed
- Works with servers to ensure guests' needs are met in a timely fashion
- Ensures impeccable cleanliness of the restaurant
- Executes food and beverage service according to The Breakers standards and adheres to food safety standards
- Clears tables and resets according to designated outlet standards
- Sets up the front of the house and back of the house for service (expo line and dish area)
- Support the servers by running drinks, pouring waters, and running food, all while maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant
Host/Hostess
- Provides the first and last impression of the restaurant
- Greets each guest with energy, enthusiasm and a friendly demeanor and provides a warm welcome and a fond farewell
- Seats guests in a timely manner and provides an energetic, professional and engaging introduction to the dining experience
- Diplomatically handles waitlist and special requests with a positive attitude and offers guests all available options
- Stays abreast of floor plan information and seating rotation and accurately uses guest’s names and information
