Job Description

High School Program Co-Op
IL - Illinois Decatur
Intern- Mechanic, Wash bay, Dispatch/Office Admin
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Qualifications
  • Students must be at least 17 years old, a senior in High School, on track to graduate, maintain a cumulative 2.25 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higher and meet attendance requirements to be eligible for ADM’s 12-month Career Pathways program. In additional, one formal letter of recommendation is required to be considered for program entry.
  • Upon selection into the program, students will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and lift test administered per ADM policy/procedures.

Summer 2023 Co-Op:

    • June 2024 to July 2024
    • 8 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday

Fall 2023 High School Co-Op for Credit:

    • August 2024 to December 2024
    • 8am to 12pm or 12pm to 4:00pm Monday through Friday

Spring 2024 High School Co-Op for Credit

    • January 2025 to May 2025
    • 8am to 12pm or 12pm to 4:00pm Monday through Friday
    • Program Graduation Ceremony: May 2025
      ADM Trucking is a food grade transportation company.
Essential Job Functions – The individual is required to follow all government, company & customer policies and regulations. This includes but is not limited to FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, DOL & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Restrictions: Under no circumstance will an intern be allowed to drive a motor vehicle or ride-along as a helper as part of their job. Interns are not allowed to perform any work prohibited by the Department of Labor (DOL) as described in the federal youth employment regulations including the DOL’s Hazardous Occupations Orders which prohibit minors to work with power-driven hoisting equipment (forklifts, skid-steers, backhoes, manlifts, etc.), power-driven chain saws or any cutting machinery, among others. Please refer to the DOL Hazardous Occupation Orders for more information.

Mechanic Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties with supervision.
  • Train to be a service mechanic.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of work area.
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Ability to follow SOPs
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards
Washbay Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Conduct all job tasks with a positive safety attitude.
  • Maintains good housekeeping.
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to lift hoses
  • Ability to walk on wet surfaces
  • Ability to work at heights
Dispatch/Office Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a high volume of incoming calls and respond appropriately to plants and customers
  • Tracking goals
  • Retrieve Driver/HOS information using the Dispatch System
  • Communication with truck drivers, as well as internal and external customers
  • Make decisions regarding coverage for breakdowns and delays
  • Successfully lead customer add-ons
  • Coordination of replacement driver for driver call offs
  • Build and distribute the driver schedule daily
  • Willingness to work additional hours to cover vacations, as well as flexibility to cross train for multiple positions
Job Requirements:
  • Ideal candidate should possess strong people and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, as well as a motivated personality with a willingness to take initiative
  • Proficient in the use of a computer with experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferred
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly; read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing in order to effectively communicate in person or by phone.
  • Position requires sitting for prolonged periods of time, heavy phone use; standing, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing a ladder, kneeling and operating a keyboard.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Students must adhere to High School attendance policy and also adhere to ADM’s attendance policy
PPE: Required safety items includes but is not limited to; safety Glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hearing protection, hard hat and LOTO items.
