JOB SUMMARY: The Support Programs Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various Support Programs within Lansing School District 158, including but not limited to: English Learners, special education, academic and behavioral intervention, McKinney-Vento homeless assistance, social emotional learning, trauma-informed practice, gifted and accelerated programs, alternative placement, and other responsibilities of the Student Services Office. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for promoting student success through effective program implementation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coordinate and manage various Support Programs within the school district, ensuring alignment with educational objectives and goals. • Supervise administrative, certified, and non-certified employees, including but not limited to: hire, training, investigation, evaluation, discipline, professional development, and separation of employment. • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to identify program needs and develop strategies for effective implementation. • Manage resources, including budgets, materials, data, informational systems, personnel, and confidential records and documents, to ensure the successful execution of Support Programs. • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of sensitive records and information in various formats (e.g. hard copy, digital, etc.). • Collect and analyze data related to program effectiveness, student outcomes, and other relevant metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. • Maintain open and transparent communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates on program activities, achievements, and challenges. • Coordinate training sessions for school staff involved in Support Programs, ensuring they are well-equipped to implement program initiatives. • Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines related to Support Programs • Foster positive relationships with parents, community organizations, and other external partners to enhance support program initiatives. • Conduct regular evaluations of Support Programs to assess their impact and identify areas for improvement • Maintain accurate and detailed records of program activities, budgets, and outcomes for reporting purposes. • Work closely with teachers, paraeducators, specialists, and related service providers to develop and implement effective strategies for meeting the unique needs of all students. • Focused on student learning based on high expectations and continuous learning. • Strong character, impeccable integrity, and firmly held ethical beliefs. • Proficiency with administrative and instructional applications of technology. • Thorough understanding of excellent teaching and learning practices, educational law, RtI, MTSS, PBIS, IDEA, ELL, PERA Joint Committees, ACE's, student placement, and data informed decision-making. • Maintain knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in education. • Facilitate the development, review, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs for students with special needs, ensuring all legal requirements are met. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS: • Strong supervisory and leadership skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Master's degree or higher in Education or related subject required. • Illinois PEL with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Prolonged periods of standing during supervision. • Demonstrate regular on-site attendance. • Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel. • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. • Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions. • Regular on-site attendance.
