Lacrosse Assistant Boys Coach
JOB SUMMARY: Provide a learning environment that allows players to learn new skills and reinforce established skills to
improve. An assistant coach of each sport has the responsibility of carrying on the sport in the best interest of the school
district by adhering to the policies and regulations of the Pottsgrove Board of Directors, as well as the practices and procedures of the
school administration. Further, an assistant coach should have a working knowledge of Pottsgrove School District and
the rules and regulations of the Pottsgrove Athletic Department, Pioneer Athletic Conference and the
Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate skill development, program philosophy, and equipment management.
2. Supervise the practices and training sessions of the middle school lacrosse program.
3. Assist with the planning of team strategies for competitions.
4. Organize players and equipment for practices and games.
5. Maintain program records for the Athletic Director.
6. Collect and organize physical forms and emergency contact forms.
7. Supervise practice in the absence of the head coach.
8. Attend rules meetings for communication of any changes to rules.
9. Collaborate with the High School coach to discuss preferred teaching skills.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma is necessary
Experience in the game of lacrosse is required
Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code) Nonresidents and Pennsylvania residents who have not resided in the Commonwealth for at least two years prior to the date of application for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to reach above and below the waist
Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
Some crouching, crawling, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting of the body required
Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
Ability to mostly walk throughout the work environment with some standing or sitting
