Description
Role:
Primarily, will operate a Help Desk, fielding requests from end users in a friendly and expert manner, fixing computer and software problems expeditiously. Will man the Help Desk as much as possible, answering support requests via the telephone or email. Will work closely with other department technicians to find the means to satisfy all internal customer needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Provide Help Desk support as expertly as possible, responding to telephone calls, email, and walk in requests for support, and bring a quick resolution to the problem.
- Re-image and fix computers; including minor repairs to printers, copiers, scanners and hardware.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot connectivity of computers and printers, working with all members of the department.
- Handles information systems portion of new project installs and the maintenance of these systems.
- Provide on call hours technical support and weekends, as necessary.
- Effectively communicate with all members of the department, while abiding by the Clinic policies/procedure manual.
Performance Measures:
- Excellent computer/software troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software and data communications including comparability and system configurations.
- Maintain satisfactory priority schedule of jobs that need to be completed as scheduled. Ensure that the work performed is complete and accurate. Must be able to work after hours and weekends.
- Knowledge in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other members of the departments, clinic staff, and vendors.
- Learn the network to ensure continuity of computers, printers, scanners and hardware.
- Learn and monitor computer performance and other data communications to maximize efficiency.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience: Two or more years of experience working with computer support.
- Education: Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or certification at a business or trade school.
- Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and /or externally) is an important part of the job.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, bending over desks, reaching, and stretching for items.
- Requires hours at the computer terminal and keyboard.
- Very good manual dexterity for operation of keyboard and troubleshooting computers.
- May involve lifting of up to 50 lbs.
