North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.
Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
Support field activities for projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operation of Heavy Equipment to remove radioactively contaminated soil, piping, and septic systems.
• Operation of miscellaneous equipment such as water truck, telehandler, excavator, etc.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Operate equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Servicing, lubricating, cleaning, and refueling equipment and performing minor adjustments, repairs, and inspections.
• Work from drawings, markers, and verbal instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/Equivalent
• 3 years of experience operating multiple types of Heavy Equipment
• Must have a valid state driver's license
• Must have current 40-hour HAZWOPER

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work safely and efficiently
• Ability to regularly move at least 50-lbs manually
• Ability to follow supervisory verbal and written instructions and designated health and safety requirements.
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions or difficult terrain.

Special Requirements:

• Must be US Citizen
• Must pass government background check for work in high security areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment. This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. and can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position and the work entailed will be completed outdoors in the field under various weather conditions.
