Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Psychologist. This position will provide a range of psychological and behavioral assessment and intervention services to adults with neuro-degenerative disorders, dementia, and intellectual disability with medical complex needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide psychological, diagnostic and intervention services.
  • Provides consultation with psychologists, physicians, pharmacists and other interdisciplinary team members regarding appropriate options.
  • Develops person-centered treatment plans based on positive behavioral interventions.
  • Educates and trains staff on appropriate approaches.
  • Collates, analyzes and presents data relevant to the residents cognitive, behavioral, adaptive and affective functioning.

***Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.***
This position is designated "mandatory" and must report or stay over during adverse weather events or other emergencies.
ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER(BMNTC):
Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is a state operated health care facility providing services that are not readily available in the community. BMNTC serves as a safety net for the care of individuals diagnosed with dementia and who have behaviors that exceeds community resources. We also care for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities who have complex medical and/or behavioral needs.

Applicants must thoroughly document, within the body of the application, that they possess all the following:
  • Knowledge of the NC Psychology Practice Act and amendments; NC Psychology Board's administrative rules; HIPPA
  • Demonstrated experience using psychological techniques to treat DSMV diagnoses.
  • Previous experience coordinating and/or supervising work.
  • Ability to relate appropriately to residents and staff members

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE:
  • Experience working with adults with cognitive effects of neurocognitive disorders and intellectual development disabilities.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is noteligible for a sign-on bonus if:
  1. the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
  2. the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
  3. or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
