Join the team! Mid-Michigan Equipment Corporation is now hiring a Heavy-Duty Mechanic’s. Applicants need or will need to have State of Michigan Heavy-Duty
Mechanic or a Heavy-Duty mechanic trainee certificate prior to start.
Job Responsibilities
- Repairs, maintains, and services semi-trucks, trailers.
- Diagnoses equipment problems and suggests the needed repairs.
- Performs safety and maintenance checks including Federal Annual Department of Transportation (DOT) Inspections
- Performs all preventative maintenance to equipment per manufacturer and DOT specifications
Certifications & Experience
- Must be a Certified Heavy-Duty Mechanic by the State of Michigan or have a heavy-Duty Mechanic trainee certificate.
- One or more years of Heavy-Duty mechanic experience servicing Heavy-Duty Trucks and Trailers preferred.
- Tank testing (HM232) experience a plus
- Must have own tools to perform daily job tasks and/or willing to purchase.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting a variety of systems including but not limited to heavy-duty fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air-brake systems, drive train, suspension,
- and safety systems preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage time and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of Heavy Truck and equipment safety
- Ability to know or learn to use a computer for diagnosing equipment problems and keeping accurate records.
- Welding and fabrication skills a plus.
