Heavy Duty Mechanic

We are offering a SIGN ON BONUS of $2,000, broken up into 4 benchmarks of 25% over the year:

• After 90 days ($500)
• After 180 days ($500)
• After 270 days ($500)
• After 1 year ($500)

Overview:
ShieldWall Fleet Solutions, a leading provider of mobile heavy-duty truck and fleet repairs and services in Western Michigan, is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic team. Our mobile units are equipped with the latest tools and technology to handle any repair job, and our mobile mechanics possess the expertise needed to meet the diverse needs of our valued clients.

Important to note that you need to have strong face-to-face customer service skills, as we have a reputation to uphold. As a mobile service, you will be facing the customers 1 on 1.

The ability to use diagnostic equipment is essential.

You must have the ability to obtain a chauffeur license and a clean driving record, as you will be insured by the company.
Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Inspection:
- Conduct thorough inspections of heavy-duty equipment, identifying and diagnosing mechanical issues.
- Perform routine maintenance checks to ensure the proper functioning of machinery.
2. Repair and Maintenance:
- Execute repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other mechanical components of heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.

3. Mobile Service Excellence:
- Operate effectively within our mobile service units, ensuring timely response to client calls.
- Deliver on-site repairs and services, utilizing the advanced tools and technology available in our mobile units.
4. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and inspections.
- Provide detailed reports on equipment condition and repair recommendations.
5. Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment and implement necessary precautions.
6. Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other team members to prioritize and schedule repairs.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other staff regarding equipment status and maintenance needs.
7. Problem Solving:
- Analyze malfunctions and devise effective and efficient solutions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify complex mechanical issues.
Qualifications:
1. Education and Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training and certification in heavy-duty equipment mechanics.
2. Experience:
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, with a minimum of 3 years in the field.
3. Skills:
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
4. Certifications:
- Relevant certifications in heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair.
Physical Requirements:
The job involves standing, bending, lifting heavy parts, and working in various weather conditions. Candidates must be physically fit and able to perform the essential duties of the position.
