We are collaborative, rewarding, customer-centric non-profit organization serving over-the-road truck drivers. We offer drivers free Health & Wellness programs including diabetes prevention, smoking cessation, chronic disease management, and at-home cancer screenings. In addition, we offer financial assistance for essential household expenses when truck drivers experience an illness or injury that took them off the road.

We are looking for a Health Coach who is passionate about helping people and has a growing interest in health, nutrition and wellness. The right candidate will have experience working with clients to develop a routine that accommodates their specific needs and goals, and will be responsible for educating clients about the benefits of healthy eating and exercise. The job also includes working with clients on tobacco cessation and diabetes prevention.
Responsibilities:
- Be a valuable member of our team.
- Be able to work independently.
- Be able to work under a supervisor.
- Obtain information from patients regarding their medical history.
- Assist individuals with reaching goals set by their doctors.
- Lead sessions on diabetes prevention (virtually).
- Lead sessions for the Healthy Habits for the Long Haul chronic disease management group.
- Work with individual drivers through their tobacco cessation journey, including keeping track of prizes and ordering cessation products on their behalf.
- Write articles on health and wellness topics as requested for magazines, or desired to put on the SCF blog and social.
- Monthly radio spot on health and wellness topic of your choice; occasional fill-in radio spots as interviews are offered, or new programs are launched.
- Facilitate providing vaccine vouchers and cancer screenings.
- Outreach for donations to continue and to start funding H&W programs.
- Engagement on social media: post and do FB lives on the SCF page, diabetes prevention page, Rigs without Cigs page, and Driven to be Healthy pages.
- Lead an annual health challenge in September.
- Work with the Communications Manager for whatever is needed on website updates, social media posts, and marketing materials that need to be made.
- Quarterly reports to the Board of Directors on the results of all H&W programs.
- Outreach to CDL schools and trucking companies to make them aware of the free H&W programs.
- Occasional travel to truck shows and conferences.
- Lead the H&W committee quarterly meetings (these are with volunteers in the industry, health fields, and drivers and revolve mainly about updating on our programs, getting ideas, and hearing feedback).
- Be a team player to help grow the SCF as a whole, which includes giving opinions and ideas on marketing, fundraising ideas, new programs, and ways to improve the organization and programs.
