Job Description
Brewster is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Health Inspector for the Health Department. This new part-time position performs professional, technical and inspection work enforcing public health laws and regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to; performing sanitary inspections of food establishments, motels, recreation camps for children, campgrounds, pools, housing and other establishments to ensure compliance with local and state laws and regulations. Inspects installation and repair of septic systems, works with installers and engineers to ensure that sewage disposal system conform to requirements and function properly. Investigates nuisance complaints; enforces Board of Health orders; witnesses soil tests and inspects installation and repair of septic systems; may perform barn inspections and investigate complaints. Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports; may assist senior staff with customer inquiries, file research and general office coverage.
High School Degree or equivalent required, Associates degree in Science or Public Health preferred. Minimum one year of experience in related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Is this the job for you? Part-time, 19 hour a week position covered under the Town’s Personnel Bylaw Agreement, with a starting pay range of $28.37- $31.93 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
