The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Health Educator to support our government customer located in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Potential for Telework may be available, but local within Puerto Rico is preferred.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide services to implement a comprehensive Dengue Prevention and Control Program.
- Provide training in the application of public health education principles and concepts.
- Review background and existing training materials for applicability and develop a training plan if needed.
- Develop training materials that are easy to follow, self-directed, and can be applied in limited technology settings. Will conduct training related to Dengue prevention and control.
- Provide support on a variety of tasks and assignments related to public health management, implementation, policy, preparedness, and operations.
- Analyze available program resources related to Dengue education, review and evaluate programs and services, and make recommendations for and executes changes to ensure maximum effectiveness.
- Identify planning milestones and tactics to reach milestones related to team projects and functions.
- Apply analytical and interpretive skills to assess problems, develop products, perform services, and take needed actions.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelors in relevant field
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have strong skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in communications, health education and/or public health.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in educational content and materials development and training.
- Good verbal and writing skills in both English and Spanish.
- Must have experience in developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have strong writing skills and demonstrated experience in content development are essential.
- Must be able to write content in plain language.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills along with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have an energetic team presence with an eagerness to learn and collaborate with other members of the communications team.
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have understanding and knowledge in complex public health issues.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with data analysis and data management is preferred.
- Prior CDC, public health, or healthcare experience.
- Knowledge and experience in communicating about vector-borne disease.
- Experience planning, implementing, or analyzing results from formative research to inform communications efforts.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
Must be able to pass a Federal Background Check.
