Pay rate: $20.41 - $22.50
Actual base pay will be determined based on a successful candidate's work location, skills/abilities, experience, and education. This role includes opportunity to receive an annual bonus target of 5% of annual eligible earnings. Actual bonus amounts are determined by length of time in role, individual performance, and organizational performance.
States we employ in: AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MO, NC, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI, WV. In order for your candidacy to be considered, you must have established residency in one of these states or being willing to relocate.
If you live within 50 miles of either the Melbourne, FL or Colorado Springs, CO office, you would be expected to work onsite 3 days per week.

The Role
The Health Coach is responsible for independently growing and managing a caseload of high risk Medi-Share members by providing: education, training, guidance, information, and encouragement in order to equip them to make healthy lifestyle choices. This role supports the Health & Wellness Prevention Department in successfully administering the Health Partnership Program and the Health Incentive Discount.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans and conducts individualized health educational programs for assigned members.
  • Maintains assigned caseload of participants in individual or group coaching and keeps detailed records of interactions.
  • Demonstrates appropriate coaching frequency, etiquette, content, verbal and/or written communication, and duration.
  • Formulates, affects, and interprets the Health Partnership program in a manner that best suits the member; which can vary by member schedule, habits, behaviors and motivation levels.
  • Makes determinations with autonomy on when and how a Health Partner will complete our program and determine if and when the fee will be removed upon completion.
  • May be required to develop content and resources to meet Member needs including: creating resources, exercise routines, recipes, etc. Also may need to create materials related to your certifications.
  • Engages members by creating group posts or challenges on health and wellness topics. Encourages re-engagement on the Member portal through online lessons, resources, connecting wearable devices, etc.
  • Fulfills administrative duties including maintaining a member-facing schedule, following up with members who miss appointments, organizing and reviewing records (i.e. goals and metrics), and communicating with clients.
  • Motivates employees toward appropriate activity goals based on assessment of their age, ability, and fitness level, with a focus on injury prevention.
  • Provides sound, research-based information to participants to enable them to make healthy life-style choices, administers questionnaires to identify health-risk, determines readiness to change, and indicates the likelihood of successful program adherence.
  • Makes participant referrals when needs or questions lie outside of the scope of the Coach's role, credentials, knowledge, or training.
  • Continues informal or formal education. Strives toward mastery in at least one area of knowledge related to healthy living-e.g. exercise, nutrition, and weight loss.
  • Strives to model and maintain a healthy lifestyle and encourages others to do the same.
  • Maintains regular communication with the department Manager to ensure that information conveyed to members is consistent with current health-related research.
  • Attends all required department and organization meetings.
  • Contributes to the exercise and expression of the Ministry's Christian beliefs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills & Abilities
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule in order to maintain member contacts by telephone or web based/portal
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written, oral, and digital formats to respond clearly and effectively to members
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to diagnose complex problems and issues with data not easily understood
  • Compliance to HIPAA / PHI requirements
  • Intermediate use of the internet, including search engines
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Typing speed of at least 25 adjusted words per minute
  • Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills. An ability to effectively engage others, to listen with understanding and to respond in a timely and appropriate manner
  • The ability to convey health-related information to members in a clear and relevant manner, and to work and speak from a sound, Biblically-based framework is essential
  • Strong integrity, working cooperatively, discovering new and creative ways to integrate the deliverables, problem solve, and effectively assess situations timely and in the best interest of the project and organization

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, counseling, exercise science or nutrition OR 5-10 years' experience in the field of health nutrition required
  • 1-3 years' experience in personal training or working with individuals in health-related field required
  • Personal training certification required within one year of employment
  • Well Coach certification required within one year of employment
  • A strong foundational knowledge in Biblical studies, theology, exercise science, nutrition, and lifestyle management for disease prevention and reversal (bachelor's degree or higher preferred, but will consider equivalent experience in the health field)
  • Prefer a candidate with a background that includes practical experience, education and training in preventive health care and disease reversal.
