POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to support the delivery of comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare, including clinical abortion care, at Planned Parenthood Downtown Pittsburgh location in the Abortion Services clinic. This role requires a combination of skill and flexibility, as well as a willingness to work as a collaborative and inclusive member of a team. This role requires a compassionate individual with demonstrated communication skills and clinical proficiency.

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
● High school degree or equivalent required,
● Customer service experience required
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
●Administrative duties include answering phones, making appointments, taking messages, transferring records for patients, and ensuring completion of health center records and required forms
● Perform patient medical and social history intakes and provide education as indicated for the services patients are seeking as directed by supervisor/clinician on duty
● Complete basic lab work and follow procedures as required
● With clinician oversight, determine need for point of care testing and perform tests, including pregnancy test, urine dipstick, rapid HIV, rapid hepatitis, hemoglobin, and other lab tests approved by CLIA license.
● Perform patient blood pressure.
● Administer Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
● Venipuncture and collection of blood specimens
● Appropriate exam room set up based on patient and clinician needs.
● Comprehensive stocking of exam rooms.
● Clean exam rooms after patient use, including properly handling biohazard materials.
● Sterilize instruments according to proper procedure.
● Conduct controls on the autoclave
● Provide patients with non-judgmental pregnancy options counseling and make referrals for service based on the patient’s choice
● Perform all recordkeeping duties related to patient care with accuracy
● Complete HIPAA and OSHA and other training as required
● Provide accurate information on preventive Health Care, breast and cervical cancer screening, sexually transmitted infections, genitourinary infections, sexuality, adolescent-specific care and general healthcare
● Other duties as assigned
SCHEDULE:
● For full-time candidates, Tuesday through Saturday, 8am- 5pm
● Some evening shifts may be required
