JOB TITLE:Health andSafety & Human Resource Specialist
PURPOSE:
The Health andSafety & Human Resource Specialist is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management of DOT compliance, Health and Safety of employees, and day-to-day Human Resources functions to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the business. This combined role integrates the responsibilities of managing health, safety, and Human Resources to ensure a holistic approach to employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and organizational efficiency.
REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
1.) Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
i. Work closely with management to determine on-going hiring needs.
ii. Update or develop job descriptions as needed.
iii. Manage job postings on recruiting platforms, identify potential candidates and provide resumes to hiring managers.
iv. Conduct pre-employment reviews for drivers' qualifications.
2.) Employee Onboarding:
i. Facilitate employee onboarding, pre-employment physicals, and DOT required actions.
ii. Organize and implement initial new hire training and development programs.
3.) Compensation and Benefits:
i. Assist with compensation packages and presentations.
ii. Benefits administration including open enrollment, elections, QLEs.
iii. Audit monthly invoices from carriers to ensure accuracy.
iv. Provide ongoing support to employees on benefit related matters.
4.) DOT Compliance and Safety:
i. Regularly review dash cam footage to identify policy violations and unsafe driving, communicating findings to Transportation Manager.
ii. Conduct accident investigations for both DOT and non-DOT incidents.
iii. Driver Qualification File management and record management.
iv. Ensure compliance with all applicable FMCSA regulations.
v. DOT Clearinghouse management
vi. Ensure compliance with the company Georgia Drug Free Workplace policy.
5.) Administration:
i. Administer Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs.
ii. Maintain personnel files.
iii. Process support orders and garnishments.
iv. Utilize company information systems to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential.
v. Support management with company progressive discipline policy.
6.) Regulatory Compliance:
i. Ensure compliance with labor regulations and reporting.
ii. Complete OSHA 300, 300A, 301 logs.
iii. OSHA required inspections, permit renewals, etc.
7.) Training:
i. New Hire, annual, periodic training for employees relating to OSHA topics, Drug & Alcohol,
Management, post-injury/incident/accident, various company policy refresher trainings.
ii. Become CPR/AED/First Aid/BBP trained by ARC through company and coordinate training for selected employees by ARC bi-annually and/or as needed.
8.) Audits:
i. Complete audits from customers to ensure continued business and compliance.
ii. Assist with regulatory agency audits.
iii. Disposal facility audits.
iv. Internal audits to ensure best practices are being implemented company wide.
9.) Claims Management:
i. Submit insurance claims through insurance portal on an as needed basis.
ii. Work closely with insurance to facilitate quick closure to workers compensation claims, auto claims, etc.
10.) Programs, Policies, and Procedures:
i. Regularly review and update safety programs
ii. Review and assist in revision of Employee Manual policies and procedures as needed.
11.) Inspections:
i. Conduct regularly scheduled facility inspections for eyewash stations, stormwater drains,
AEDs and First Aid Box inventory. ii. Offsite inspections of field employees monthly or as time permits. iii. Annual OSHA required inspections of fall systems, fire systems and extinguishers, etc.
12.) Other Duties: i. Perform any other duties as assigned by the President, Senior Vice President, or their designees.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet hard deadlines.
- Ability to balance reactive and proactive responsibilities.
- Attention to detail and organization skills.
- Strong problem solving and people skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA, and DOL laws and regulations.
- Ability to walk, talk, sit, stand, kneel, write, type, and lift/carry up to 15 lbs.
- Prior experience in similar role is preferred.
Salary: $85,000-$95,000 + up to 20% discretionary bonus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
