POSITION SUMMARY
The Head of School is the academic leader for all programs and a lead administrator of Orange Lutheran High School, responsible for providing visionary leadership, fostering a positive school culture for students, faculty, and staff, ensuring academic excellence, strengthening the institution's Christian values and mission and administrating campus operations in partnership with others. He/She is the administrator in charge of the campus in the absence of the Executive Director/CEO. The Head of School reports directly to the Executive Director/CEO, in line with the Chief Finance Officer, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Operational Services Officer as the senior leadership team of a multi-campus high school with on-ground and online academic programs and exceptional arts, athletics, and mission’s programs. Working independently and collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Campus Pastor, other lead administrators, faculty, and staff, the Head of School oversees the direction and operation of the school through the mission, vision, purpose, core values, expected student-wide learning goals, and the strategic plan of Orange Lutheran High School.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Academic Leadership
- Lead strategic vision and direction for all academic programs, with a student’s first focus on achievement and engagement, while championing the development of excellence in teaching and learning
- Develop, implement, and support a vision for academic excellence that aligns with the school’s mission, strategic goals, and philosophy of education
- Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring alignment with Christian values and academic standards
- Create opportunities and foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching methodologies in all delivery modalities
- Lead the development of innovation in teaching and learning focused on foundational skills needed for 21st-century learners
- Monitor and evaluate curriculum effectiveness, adjusting as needed to meet the expected school-wide learning goals
- Implement data-driven strategies to enhance student achievement and address areas of improvement
- Advocate for resources and programs that contribute to the continuous growth and skill enhancement of staff and faculty
Administrative Oversight
- Establish standards and support systems for exemplary Trinity League athletic programs, high-quality arts programs, and transformative mission program experiences
- Support and supervise other administrators, department chairs, directors, and administrative staff in their roles and responsibilities
- Oversee budget development, and resource allocation to optimize learning opportunities
- Ensure compliance with educational regulations, policies, and accreditation standards
- Pursue additional accreditation opportunities and campus program development
- Promote guiding principles of the organization and ensure the implementation of consistent practices to reinforce them
Employee Engagement
- Recruit, retain, and evaluate teaching, coaching, directing, and foster a culture of professional growth and accountability
- Provide mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and support staff well-being
- Champion a culture of employee engagement and advocate for its importance at all levels of the organization
- Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being and development of employees
- Communicate openly and transparently with employees, providing regular updates on school-wide successes and opportunities for growth
- Promote guiding principles of the organization and ensure the implementation of consistent practices to reinforce them
Student Belonging, Support, and Discipline
- Provide guidance, accountability, and support for belonging, student welfare, academic progress, and behavioral concerns
- Create a climate and culture where ALL students willing to engage with our mission are loved, valued, and cared for
- Oversee the disciplinary policies and processes following Christian values, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all students
Spiritual Leadership
- Works collaboratively with the Campus Pastor to support, encourage, and promote a climate indicative of a premier Lutheran Christian high school
- Maintain faithful worship attendance and membership in an LCMS congregation
- Serve as a spiritual mentor and role model, integrating Christian values into all aspects of School life
- Lead chapel services, various Daily Gathering sessions, prayer groups, and other spiritual activities, nurturing the spiritual growth of students and employees
Strategic Planning
- Participate in developing the school’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment of short-term and long-term goals with the school's mission, vision, and purpose
- Oversee the implementation of the strategic plan initiatives with monthly check-ins and quarterly settings
- Evaluate the effectiveness of strategic academic initiatives and adjust plans accordingly
Community Engagement
- Collaborate and communicate with various stakeholders, including parents, community leaders, board members, alumni, and donors, to promote the school's mission, vision, purpose, and values
- Cultivate positive relationships with external partners, Accreditation Agencies, Association, other Christian churches, the Pacific Southwest District, and other organizations to enhance student and faculty experiences and opportunities
- Represent Orange Lutheran High School at Association churches and events

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- Master’s degree in education or related field; Doctorate preferred
- Administrative certification or license
Experience
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in educational leadership, in a Christian or public school educational setting
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES
- Cleared background/Fingerprint check
- Valid CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Cleared TB Risk Assessment
- Completion of Ministry Safe Training

- Deep experience in the design, integration, implementation, and management of a school, including knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, school operations, management, and leadership development
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Strong Christian faith and ability to integrate prayer and Christian belief system into leadership
- Ability to articulate their Christian faith
- An active member of an LCMS Church
- Support the Mission and Statement of Faith of Orange Lutheran High School
