Responsibilities:
- General Counsel / Head of Legal is responsibile for the entire company. This will include all legal areas/issues that pertain to our company's business
- Support leadership in regulatory structure, scheme rule compliance, customer agreements, and strategic partnerships.
- Maintain awareness of Legal documents and company operations, instituting scalable processes for reviewing existing and new products, services, and procedures while documenting all legal proceedings.
- Advise and collaborate with various teams (Product, Engineering, Sales/Partnerships, Compliance & Risk, Marketing and HR) on diverse issues encompassing payments, regulations, consumer protection, intellectual property, and data privacy.
- Stay abreast of U.S. and international laws on payments, financial services, privacy, data security, and consumer protections. Counsel executives on pertinent legal matters impacting business functionality.
- Develop and review legal strategies in response to litigation.
- Act as the company's legal representative as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of Legal experience in a leading law firm, in-house legal team, or government agency, ideally within payments or financial services technology.
- Litigation experience.
- JD from an ABA-accredited university and membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- Passion for startups, technology, adept at swiftly grasping complex business models and product use cases.
- Entrepreneurial mindset thriving in fast-paced environments, handling ambiguity, and focusing on generating impact.
- Strong decision-making skills despite incomplete information, displaying excellent written and verbal communication.
- Capacity to work under tight deadlines.

Compensation:
Variable Base + Commission + Equity (based on experience)
