Job Summary:
The Head of Business Development (Americas) is a senior leader within the MoneyGram for Business (MGB) division and reports to the General Manager of MGB. The incumbent will have ownership for defining and executing MGBs commercial strategy across North and Latin America, working closely with a variety of clients and partners in the FinTech, Digital Commerce, government/NGO, and Fortune 500 segments. This is a highly visible commercial role with exposure to MoneyGram's Chief Digital Officer, members of the Digital Leadership Team, and others.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Lead the growth of MoneyGram for Business in the Americas, serving as a senior leader for one of MoneyGram's newest and most important commercial opportunities.
• Own the Americas P&L, building a robust and diversified pipeline of clients and partners to achieve quarterly/annual financial targets.
• Engage with senior leaders of prospective clients and engage in strategic discussions to better understand and position MoneyGram for Business, and MoneyGram, as the partner of choice for money movement solutions.
• Drive end-to-end Business Development efforts from generating and cultivating opportunities, to structuring and negotiating commercial terms, contract execution, and launch.
• Develop and execute MGBs strategy for the Americas, which includes identifying customer segments to pursue, customer acquisition strategy, use-cases to address, and an overall approach to positioning MGB as a key player in the sector.
• Accelerate MGB revenue growth by building close relationships with regional MoneyGram teams to identify opportunities across the Americas.
• Quickly develop an understanding of industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify potential risks and opportunities for MGB.
• Participate in industry events, author thought leadership pieces, drive MGB exposure in partnership with our PR and Communications team.
• Collaborate and partner with MoneyGram's cross-functional teams to execute MGB opportunities, particularly with Legal, Finance, Product and Go-to-Market.
• Gather prospect and/or market feedback and insights, articulating and communicating this information across MoneyGram stakeholders to help inform MoneyGram's strategy, product roadmap, commercialization efforts, etc.
Qualifications
Education:
• BA/BS degree (business, technology, economics concentrations preferred), advanced degree preferred, but not required
Experience:
• 10-15 years of experience in Business Development, partnerships, enterprise sales, ideally within the payments/financial services space.
Essential Skills:
• Superior knowledge in growing and managing a B2B sales pipeline, knowing what it takes to move opportunities from top-of-funnel to bottom-of-funnel.
• Exceptional commercial and analytical acumen, coupled with a bias towards action.
• Ability to think strategically and thoughtfully, to ensure MGB is pursuing the right opportunities that will yield the most impact - financially and strategically.
• Proven track record of structuring, negotiating, and executing deals that have driven a material financial and strategic impact for current or past organizations.
• Highly entrepreneurial, with an 'owners' mentality'.
• Prior Business Development experience at high-growth FinTech startups preferred, but not required.
• High-agency individual with the passion to build a business from the ground up, in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong network of relationships within the payments/FinTech sector, or other relevant sector is highly preferred.
• Experience in complex and fast-paced deal negotiations, strong understanding of key commercial and legal elements in commercial agreements. Experience in building and/or enhancing commercial frameworks.
• Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, able to articulate business needs and garner internal stakeholder support.
• Experience in working with international markets preferred, but not required.
• Experience working across the Americas (North and Latin America) preferred.
