JOB DESCRIPTION
The head Women's Soccer coach is responsible for all aspects in leading a competitive NAIA soccer program to include, coaching (practice and in-game), recruiting, fund-raising, positive encouragement towards student-athlete development, and scheduling. Full commitment to all NAIA, Red River Athletic Conference, and the Huston-Tillotson University Department policies and procedures is expected.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF HEAD SOCCER COACH
- Manage and direct the program
- Recruit, teach and demonstrate coaching skills
- Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, former players, faculty, alumni and staff
- Mange and build a competitive nonconference and conference schedule
- Manage a fiscally sound budget
- Direct the assistant coach in coordinating study hall and tutoring
- Monitor class schedules, grades, and student-athlete academic progress.
- Work cooperatively with athletic personnel, attend department meetings and activities
- Represent Huston-Tillotson University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public
- Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, Huston-Tillotson University, Red River Athletic Conference, and the NAIA
- Performs other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Athletics.
SUPERVISION
This position reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS FOR HEAD SOCCER COACH
- Graduate degree preferred
- Bachelor's degree required
- Relevant experience in coaching and athletic administration
- Superior organizational skills and high energy level with demonstrated competence in program development, administration, decision-making, and fiscal management skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team relationship and with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, alumni, public and the media
- Commitment to the establishment of an effective intercollegiate athletics program for the College and maintenance of positive relationships with the public
- Skills in counseling, communication, public relations, and organizational planning and management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to the Mission and Vision of the University
