Jensen Hughes has an exciting job opportunity for a Hazmat Chemical Engineer or Chemist in our Seattle, WA or Portland, OR office locations.
- Developing code reports, classifying hazardous materials, preparing hazardous material inventory statements, hazardous material management plan documentation, dust hazard analyses, battery hazard mitigation analyses, facility compliance reports, equipment reports, engineering judgment letters, and alternate materials and methods strategy memos.
- Developing compliance strategies and authoring code interpretations for complex code issues.
- Planning internal training programs and quality assurance programs.
- Directly managing clients, deliverables, budgets, and participating in presentations to clients including design and construction teams.
- Attending meetings with City and Fire officials and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction and presenting on project related matters.
- Preparing proposals, including budget and effort estimates, and participating in business development activities.
- Learning to become a subject matter expert on a team or a team leader.
- Other tasks as needed.
- A master’s degree in chemistry or in chemical engineering is preferred, but bachelor’s degrees will be considered based on work experience.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, equipment schematics, and process and instrumentation diagrams is preferred.
- 3-5 years direct work experience in a chemistry lab, pharmaceutical facility, or a chemical engineering design team.
- Knowledge of chemical reactions and process hazard analysis.
- Some knowledge of building code, fire code, food, healthcare, or pharmaceutical regulations.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to articulate complex concepts to an appropriate audience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam (Revu) is preferred.
- Knowledge of Smartsheets is a plus.
- Pharmaceutical and FDA knowledge is preferred.
