Our lab team at Waterfowl Winery in Hopland, CA is looking for a Harvest Lab Technician to join them for Harvest 2024. This is a great opportunity to learn diverse winemaking techniques from multiple labels
What we will ask you to do:
- Evaluate and communicate sensory characteristics of fermentation to the winemaking team.
- Follow lab protocols to sample from tanks, barrels, and vineyards.
- Perform analysis of grape and wine samples (Brix, TA, pH, alcohol, sulfur, etc.).
- Prepare solutions, maintain chemicals, calibrate equipment.
- Support cellar with additions and inoculations as needed.
- Perform accurate data entry and tracking using Microsoft Excel.
- Prepare trials and blends upon request.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work overtime (including one weekend day) during peak harvest period.
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in enology or science preferred.
- Basic lab skills – including pipetting, titration, and ability to follow protocols.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Analytical, critical thinking and math skills required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Attention to detail and safety.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 45lbs.
- The hourly range for this position is $20 - $23.
