Varec, a Leidos company is currently searching for a Hardware Design Engineer for instrumentation and communications devices. Responsibilities will include developing technical documentation and plans, assessing new technologies and tools, circuit board design, firmware development, troubleshooting and repair, verification & validation, and testing. This position will report to the Hardware Engineering Manager and interface with production, procurement, systems engineering, technical support analysts and software development personnel. The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in decision-making, flexibility, planning and organizing, self-initiative and interpersonal skills.
Location: This position would be located at our Peachtree Corners, GA Office.
Hybrid Schedule: 2 days in the office/3 days remote allowed as hybrid schedule, after the first 120 days. During the first 120 days, candidate would need to be in the office at least 4 days a week.
The Challenge:
- Hardware engineering for a variety of products, including gauges, transmitters, interface devices and operator terminals
- Working independently or in small teams to develop new hardware products or make design changes to existing products
- Analyze product requirements and specifications to develop technical plans, work task breakdown and estimates
- Develop electrical schematics and printed circuit board (PCB) design
- Develop embedded firmware in ANSI C
- Research, analyze and select components and integrated circuits
- Interface with mechanical engineers and drafters to integrate circuit board designs into product housings and enclosures
- Work with manufacturing to support internally developed products and transition these to production
- Work with technical writers to produce installation and operations manuals and other product documentation
- Develop manual and automated test fixtures for quality assurance and manufacturing
- Documentation of work and results
- Provide tier 3 technical support to troubleshoot and fix hardware and firmware defects
What Sets You Apart:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related degree with two years or less (2-) of relevant work experience
- U.S Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an Public Trust Security Clearance required
- Expereince in circuit design and board layout
- Expereince in ANSI C Firmware development
- Expereince with CAD tools such as ORCAD, AutoCAD and Solidworks
- Basic electronic bench skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Successfully works in small team environment
- Works independently and with some supervision
- Good planning and organizational skills

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00
