JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Maintains and cares for school grounds.
- Prepares seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals, according to assigned schedule and need.
- Plants seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce an attractive appearance.
- Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
- Mows lawn with furnished equipment as recommended.
- Connects sprinkling equipment and waters lawns, flower beds, and athletic fields as needed.
- Inspects flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects, fungi, and other pests and sprays or dusts chemicals on infected areas.
- Adjusts and repairs such equipment as lawnmowers, sprinklers, and hedge shears.
- Assists with snow and ice removal from sidewalks, parking lots, and driveways using appropriate methods.
- Collects and disposes of leaves and refuse from grounds.
- Repairs and install outdoor bleachers, benches, playground equipment, fences, etc.
- Works on assigned repair and maintenance jobs during inclement weather.
- Operates equipment, i.e., tractors, snowplows, mowers, and trucks, as required in the performance of duties.
- Moves furniture and equipment as assigned.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Supervisor of Grounds may assign
- The preferred candidate must have experience in lawn care
- The preferred candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all stakeholders
