The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Government Services group in HORNE with responding to proposals/presentations with the overall objective of supporting ongoing business development efforts. This individual will need to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, performing creative tasks quickly and with a high level of attention to detail. This individual will need to collaborate effectively with others to achieve deadlines.
The ideal candidate for this position would have the following minimum qualifications:
Qualifications
Required
- 1 - 2+ years of relevant work experience - accompanied by a strong portfolio
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience with preferred concentration in graphic design and/or comparable work experience
- Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign and knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop
- Willingness and ability to work under pressure to develop creative designs within tight deadlines and in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills (written, verbal and presentational)
- Skill in layout, composition, and in methods to design for easy review
- Willingness to follow branding guidelines, yet creatively design within the parameters for client-oriented appeal.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to take initiative and keep deliverables moving to meet deadlines
- Ability to focus on details with a focus on producing quality documents
- Ability to work well in a group environment to manage document edits, organize information and improve work products
- Able to take direction, develop and design materials in real-time, and quickly incorporate feedback
- Ability to translate concepts into content that is accessible to audiences with mixed levels of expertise
- Ability to follow file protocols and organizational structures to house document information in a manner that allows for accessibility to other groups when information is needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet deadlines – some weekend, holidays and late evenings will be required to meet client/proposal deadlines and objectives.
Preferred:
- Video editing experience - including incorporating video elements into documents or websites.
- Maintaining a positive attitude and demeanor interacting and working with others in a customer service manner implementing changes to designs and work products with good cheer.
Job Responsibilities
- Think creativity bringing innovative approaches to develop document deliverables from a client perspective.
- Collaborate with business development team, technical support, senior managers, and other designers to develop designs that support the messaging and strategy needs of proposals, presentation and other business development documents.
- Participate in the full lifecycle of projects, from design brief to production
- Establish, organize, and maintain graphic/document templates and resource libraries
- Coordinate with printers on production needs, driving results for a quality finished product
- Design, and produce a full range of high impact well-designed digital and print documents to enhance readability, draw the reader into the content and create appealing easy-to-read documents
- Art direction using font, color, and other design concepts to enhance and create drama within a document on overarching design themes
- Materials to design include but not limited to: infographics, presentations, proposals, flyers, etc. in print and digital formats
- Ability to grasp the substance of business issues being communicated and then create visual options that enhance/clarify audience understanding
- Ensure all artistic elements carry throughout the proposals, presentations, and deliverables ensuring a creative yet consistent look and feel; ensure brand and visual identity compliance as needed
- Ensure accuracy and currency of content and graphics, provide quality control and review on all graphics to ensure no spelling or other errors
- Demonstrate listening and decision-making skills
- Production of proposals and visual aids, as required
- Exercise judgment and communicate to teams keeping internal clients informed of projects and progress
