Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nonprofit Grant Writer to join our team. As a vital member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in securing funding opportunities to support our mission and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills, attention to detail, be organized, possess great time management, and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.

Responsibilities:
1. Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other grant-making organizations that align with the organization's mission and programs, both locally and nationally.
2. Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to understand funding needs and develop grant and budget proposals that effectively communicate the organization's goals, objectives, and outcomes.
3. Write compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, ensuring adherence to funder guidelines and deadlines.
4. Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
5. Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, program officers, and other stakeholders to enhance grant-seeking efforts and maximize funding opportunities.
6. Support the monitoring and tracking of grant progress, including reporting requirements, grant expenditures, and outcomes evaluation.
7. Assist in the development of strategic fundraising plans and initiatives to diversify revenue streams and support organizational sustainability.
8. Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and changes in the grant-making landscape to inform grant-seeking strategies and maximize success.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
2. Proven experience in grant writing, with a track record of successfully securing grants for nonprofit organizations.
3. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals.
4. Strong research skills, including the ability to identify relevant funding opportunities and gather pertinent information from various sources.
5. Familiarity with nonprofit budgeting and financial management principles.
6. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
7. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and data management.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management, grant management and donor relations software.
10. Commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for social justice and community development.

Preferred Skills:
1. Experience working in a nonprofit or philanthropic organization.
2. Knowledge of specific issue areas or sectors relevant to our organization's mission (e.g., disability, education, healthcare).
3. Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor cultivation techniques.
4. Grant writing certification or professional development training.
