Intermediate Regulatory Specialist

The US E&S Service Line is a vibrant and growing team covering: Environmental Science (including marine, atmospherics, terrestrial, and aquatics); Society & Engagement; Planning, Permits & Approvals; and Sustainability & Compliance. We provide a full range of environmental services with a strong reputation for technical excellence, innovation and quality of work within small project consulting and strategic advisory assignments through to large project engineering and construction management delivery.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an exceptional candidate to be part of the USA Environment and Society (E&S) team to help serve our clients in the renewable energy (including offshore wind)  and in the US Northeast region generally, with a focus on the marine environment. The position will be based in the Northeast at an Advisian location to be developed proximate to Offshore Wind clients and regulators. You will have responsibilities for technical excellence and client relationships, with a particular focus on emerging offshore regulatory issues, environmental studies and permitting.   You would also support business development activities, working with senior leaders of the E&S team in identifying clients and opportunities, building client networks and participating in industry and regulatory development.

In addition to opportunities in the offshore area, there will be initiatives related to transmission siting, ports and other infrastructure, and industrial and resource client permitting and compliance.  You may also support our initiatives in other regions, particularly in the Mid Atlantic and Southern regions.

This new and exciting opportunity will report to the Regulatory Approvals, Permitting & Compliance Practice Lead - Environment & Society, USA.

 

Primary Objectives and Accountabilities of the Role

  • Support Advisian's work for energy and chemical clients and our strategic initiatives in energy transition by providing on-the-ground regulatory and environmental engineering advice and leadership. 
  • Interact with the broader Worley Group team to provide comprehensive environmental, engineering and operational support to energy clients including LNG, pipelines, refining, chemicals and energy transition (including renewable power and biofuels). 
  • Air, water and waste engineering-led permitting services such as works in water/dredging, stormwater and SPCC planning. 
  • Identify new opportunities and support proposal preparation and client development. 
  • Be a point person for Advisian E&S projects and opportunities in the South and Gulf regions. 

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  1. Bachelors in engineering, environmental science, environmental planning, construction or equivalent; Advanced degree(s) preferred in a relevant subject area 
  2. 0-2 years of professional experience, preferably in compliance, construction, and environmental science
  3. Demonstrated commitment to HSE leadership
  4. Knowledge in the environmental and regulatory issues associated with energy development and operation in Louisiana and the Gulf
  5. A working understanding of the regulatory and governmental community (such as FERC, USEPA, USACE, LDEQ, other state and local agencies) and industry 
  6. Excellent client and agency interfacing skills; Existing networking in Louisiana 
  7. Track record of successful management of projects / work packages to meet agreed budget and schedule
  8. Technical reporting prowess
