Job DescriptionThe base salary for this position is $31.73 hourly.
Join our team as Licensed Chemical Applicator and support the maintenance of our prestigious, award-winning Golf Courses. This position is responsible for overseeing and/or applying all restricted use pesticides on the hotel grounds. He or she will maintain all required record keeping associated with the application and storage of all pesticides including restricted use. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and will safely complete assignments with efficiency.
- Applies pesticides both restricted use and non-restricted use pesticides to all turf areas including ornamentals, shrubs, trees and structures throughout the hotel grounds. Operates all equipment necessary to complete the job function within the manufacturer’s recommendation.
- Maintain pesticide inventory and order pesticide to keep an adequate supply of needed chemicals. Maintain a log to record the daily pesticide applications for both restricted use and non-restricted use pesticides. Calculate all dilution and application rates for all pesticide applications. Perform periodic calibration test on all spray application equipment to ensure proper application. Maintains all PPE in clean and good condition.
- Maintains the chemical room to provide a clean, safe working environment and meet all requirements of HIOSH and OSHA.
- Keeps chemical inventory in an orderly manner with all chemical labels on containers and in good order.
- Ensures that hotel receives all MSDS sheets for new chemicals when they are delivered.
- Mix, and dispose of all empty chemical containers in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
- Keeps all spray equipment clean and maintained in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
- Must have a current and/or valid Hawaii driver’s license.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
- Responsible for the training of all chemical application personnel.
- Must have at least two years landscaping experience with at least one-year experience as a Chemical Applicator.
- Must have completed a course in pesticide handling conducted in accordance with the State regulations.
- Knowledge of proper use of fertilizers, soil conditioners and/or amendments, and all chemicals used in the maintenance of turf and ornamentals. Knowledge of the characteristics and cultural requirements of turf and ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees. Must have a current and/or valid Hawaii driver’s license.
- One year related experience in a similar setting.
- Must have a current Hawaii Category III Turf and Ornamental Restricted Use Pesticide License.
- Ability to read, write and spear the English language to understand requisitions, orders, to communicate with other associates.
