In this position, the Global Distribution Operations Associate will work strategically and tactically with the Head of Global Distribution Operations to support NYLIM in the execution of its Global Distribution strategy and growth initiatives. The team works closely with the global boutique and branch office distribution teams, as well as NYLIM Leadership, to enable and support cross-boutique alignment to achieve business goals and key strategic initiatives.
The GDO Associate will assist in coordinating the execution of key strategic initiatives, business planning, project management and the day-to-day operations of NYLIM’s Global Distribution organization.
Key Responsibilities and Functions:
- Work closely with the Global Distribution Committee (GDC) comprised of Senior Distribution leaders on strategy development, implementation and communication
- Conduct market and industry competitive research to assist in developing business strategy
- Assist Head of GDO in partnering across the organization with business units to implement cross-functional strategic projects and initiatives (ex. Distribution, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Product, Investment Strategy, Tech Strategy, Finance, etc)
- Create, design and align the development of internal and external presentations including presentations to the NYLIM Management Committee, Global Distribution Committee, and other key stakeholders
- Coordinate activities among senior management team, investment boutiques, business units and other stakeholders
- Partner with offices in Asia across their varied needs
- Support coordination of global meetings and events (ex. Global Distribution Summit, International Training Program, Asia Team Building, Global Distribution Committee Offsites)
- Assistance in creating business plans in support of key expansion initiatives as determined by the GDC
- Monitor and follow up on specific projects in order to update the Head of GDO on a regular basis
- Develop regular, transparent communication process to the Global Distribution team and leadership, as well as others within the organization supporting these teams
- Working group and committee representation as they relate to Global Distribution
Qualifications:
This role requires excellent decision-making ability, superior organizational knowledge, strong relationships across our global business, and a comfort in working with senior management to execute on the delivery of both day-to-day priorities and longer-term goals and projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Business required; advance degree preferred
- At least 6+ years of experience in asset management, consulting or at an investment firm; institutional sales background with alternatives experience preferred
- Previous experience working within a global multi-boutique asset management organization is preferred
- Ability to clearly articulate ideas, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences across various levels of seniority
- Self-starter, high energy, hardworking entrepreneurial attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
- Detail and results oriented with strong project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized and efficient
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish work through others
- Experience and comfort working with senior leaders
- Adaptability, nimbleness and curiosity with a desire and willingness to learn
- 10-20% travel may be required to our global offices
- Understanding of the global investment industry, products, and regulatory guidelines impacting the industry
- Demonstrated relationship building capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required
