ITegrity is currently seeking a GIS/Web Developer to help modernize a Government system.
The candidate must be able to assess, recommend, modify, document, code, support data path
changes, support centralization of systems and software, and modernize tools, reports, and
processes to support management for a long-term supportable solution. This is for both front
end and back end development of a system using GIS data.
Duties:
? Develop and improve web-based software for coastal ocean forecast system (OFS)
visualization and data quality control
? Develop concepts for optimal, user friendly interface to address the needs of OFS
developers and end users of the forecast products
? Develop an interactive map viewer to visualize and compare oceanographic data (e.g.
satellite retrievals, in-situ observations) and ocean forecasts
? Develop software for routine product and observation quality control using spatial and
time series tools
Required Skills:
? BSc or higher degree in software engineering, computer science, mechanical
engineering, natural sciences or similar discipline
? Experience in front-end development
? Understanding of web client-service applications
? Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python scripts, modules and libraries
? Experience in scientific programming
? Knowledge of front-end frameworks and libraries such as ReactJS
? Familiarity with version control systems like Git
? Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, good communication skills,
creativity
? Experience with GIS client (e.g. ArcMap, QGIS) and/or GIS server side software
(GeoServer and ArcGIS Server/Pro)
Desired skills:
? MSc in software engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, natural
sciences, or similar discipline
? Basic understanding of ocean dynamics, geophysical fluid mechanics, thermodynamics
? Experience with container-based software development and deployment (e.g. Docker,
Kubernetes) on AWS
? Experience working with Relational Database software (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle)
? Experience processing and analyzing large environmental datasets including satellite
products and output from numerical weather and ocean prediction mode
