Job Title: GIS Technician
Reports to: GIS Manager
Location: Nashville, TN (Hybrid)
Position Summary:
AgriCapture is a mission-driven company that certifies Climate-Friendly practices on farms, ranchlands and grasslands and quantifies associated emissions reductions, enabling producers to generate revenue for their sustainable management practices. By certifying agricultural products as Climate-Friendly and developing carbon credits, we serve corporations who are reducing and offsetting their GHG emissions while empowering consumers to consciously select Climate-Friendly products.
AgriCapture is seeking a highly self-motivated entry-level individual to work closely with the team to assist with GIS spatial rendering and the development of data aligned with company goals. Given the size of the AgriCapture team, this position will work within several facets of GIS, including creating, receiving, and cleaning raw data, spatial data analysis, remote sensing analysis, and adhering to AgriCapture data standards. The GIS Technician must be an organized multitasker able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines. This will be a dynamic, fast-paced position providing a unique opportunity to immediately be a part of a growing company that is poised to have a positive environmental impact.
Objectives of the Role
- Identify and acquire resource input/output data
- Assist in the collection/creation/cleaning of spatial data
- Create visually appealing data/geospatial demonstrations for project/marketing purposes
- Assist with remote sensing analysis techniques to confirm or verify agricultural practices across different project types
Responsibilities
- Create and manipulate spatial data, from various source data, representing project field boundaries
- Conduct site eligibility spatial analysis on agricultural lands
- Analyze and manipulate data to generate visualizations with actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making for project, business, and marketing development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on various projects, contributing to the integration of geospatial insights into overall strategies and objectives
- Provide support with technical writing and editing as required
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems/Science or a Bachelor of Science in a related field with a GIS certificate
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ESRI applications such as Survey123, Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, or Dashboards
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling and presenting geographic data and maps
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems/Science or a Bachelor of Science in a related field with a GIS certificate
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ESRI applications such as Survey123, Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, or Dashboards
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling and presenting geographic data and maps
- Experience or coursework related to open-source GIS software products, such as Google Earth Engine, QGIS, or GRASS
- Experience or coursework related to coding languages such as Python, R, JavaScript
- Experience or coursework related to agricultural, environmental science, or natural resources management
