The ArcGIS Data Specialist is responsible for creating, analyzing, and maintaining digital mapping data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support the company’s efforts in planning, designing, and construction of Fiber and DHFC networks in addition to supporting map request for BSL State Challenges and BDC map updates.
This position will provide technical assistance related to geographic information system data maintenance and development. This includes creating, compiling and maintaining data necessary for internal team request to support the business.
Responsibilities:
· Provide support for fiber optic and DHFC network mapping utilizing ArcGIS and ArcFM software.
· Provides direct input on the development, design and maintenance of GIS datasets, geodatabases, and related applications developed on top of ESRI’s ArcGIS.
· Assists with data collection, attributing and editing of spatial data including data cleanup, data organization and map creation using ESRI’s ArcGIS software.
· Assists in updating of parcel data using ESRI’s ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro and REGRID data entry (coordinate geometry)
· Familiarity with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and ArcFM
· Relational database analysis and modeling knowledge
· Provides advanced technical support for GIS related project activities
· Conduct in-depth map research of County, State and Federal records and skillfully interpret documents like maps, aerial photographs, and construction as-builts to gather valuable spatial data.
· Assist in the preparation of specifications and standards pertaining to the company’s use of GIS software for engineering, construction, maintenance and operation of its fiber and DHFC routes.
· Manage and maintain geospatial data related to the fiber & DHFC route assets and schematics to inventory the capacities and status of existing fiber infrastructure.
· Utilize your skills to perform general calculations and comprehend the theory and function of coordinate systems and geodetic projections.
· Work with internal teams such as Counsel, Market Expansion and design teams to support GIS map requests.
· Ensure all related fiber infrastructure geospatial inventories are in alignment with GIS best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Strong cartographic skills using ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro for creation of products for presentation both digitally and in hard copy format. Must be capable of developing and maintaining a SQL Server based database, migrate a MySQL database to SQL Server.
· 5 years’ plus experience working in ESRI platforms such as ArcGIS and ArcFM implementing applications for accessing and analyzing spatial data using GIS software systems.
· Bachelor’s degree, with focus on GIS.
· Experience producing or updating overlay maps to show information boundaries, utility locations, or topographic features on various base maps at different scales and coordinate systems.
· Demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities, organizing work to meet changing priorities, and working efficiently and effectively under pressure.
· Proven customer service with internal teams, with sense of urgency, attention to detail, and ability to handle situations diplomatically and across various levels of the organization.
· Strong interactive communication and negotiation skills and an aptitude for problem-solving.
Desired Qualifications:
· Must have experience with ArcGIS, ArcFM, and ESRI or Spatialnet
· Understanding of outside plant design & construction techniques.
· Experience using Python and SQL programming languages is a plus.
· Experience using MyWorld and Autocad is a plus
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $40,406.87 - $65,000.00 per year
