Job description

The Biogeographic Data Branch is recruiting for one Research Data Specialist I position. Under the general direction of the Research Data Manager, the incumbent will act as a embedded Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist for the Department's Habitat Conservation and Planning Branch and the Watershed Restoration Grants Branch.
This position will act as the Department's lead GIS Specialist for these two Branches, serving as the principle staff person overseeing and coordinating GIS, data design, data collaboration, cartographic production, and mapping for multiple ongoing projects across the state.

Working Conditions
Ability to work at a desk using a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time, but may require walking or standing. Attend meetings, work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Occasional travel is required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e. automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay.
