Summary
The Staff GIS Specialist on the Fiber and Broadband team is responsible for completing assigned tasks under the supervision and guidance of the Fiber & Broadband GIS Practice Advisor, Project Manager, or other designated technical staff. This Fiber & Broadband GIS Specialist I is expected to apply the concepts learned through required education and prior professional experience to independently solve tasks as assigned. This position is primarily responsible for providing ongoing geospatial support to assigned Fiber & Broadband design engineering projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works cooperatively with geospatial professionals to ensure business line administrative needs are met efficiently.
- Compiles, manipulates, and refines geographic data from various sources including ACAD, Google Earth, Excel, shapefiles, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
- Effectively manages, presents, and analyzes spatial data using ESRI products.
- Performs quality control checks of GIS data and non-spatial databases with minimal supervision to ensure data integrity.
- Creates and modifies GIS datasets and manages and maintains legacy project databases.
- Creates and updates fiber design project templates, web maps, or applications.
- Manages individual project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and data visualization.
- Troubleshoots GIS related issues.
- Supports Fiber and Broadband planning and feasibility projects to include completing high level designs using ESRI ArcGIS Pro and Biarri Networks FOND Planner.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Environmental Science or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Up to two years of relevant professional GIS experience.
- Proficiency with ESRI GIS suite (ArcPro, ArcOnline, and/or Portal).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and training abilities.
- Troubleshooting skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of recent Microsoft Office Software Suite.
- Familiarity with enterprise SDE environments.
- General CADD experience, with preference for AutoCad/Civil 3D and Bentley Site experience, including Corridor Modeler.

Compensation Range
$47,600.00 - $78,000.00
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California’s SB 1162. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
