GIS Web Applications Specialist

Summary of Position:

The GIS Applications Web Specialist supports mapping and geospatial application functions. The GIS Application Specialist collects, manages, analyzes, models, and presents geographic data, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Enterprise applications (Esri suite). This position supports the Esri Enterprise platform, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online applications, with Experience Builder, Python/Arcade and other scripting tools to create geospatial web content. This position builds and maintains GIS databases using methods including manual data entry, data creation, service creation, image digitization, and data upload from electronic sources. The GIS Application Specialist will help design and support the enterprise GIS applications including web-map and map document creation, Esri server and mobile application development, data development, geospatial analysis and mapping, automated workflow processing, and interact with customers and support GIS projects throughout the company.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct geospatial analyses of multiple datasets and themes (e.g., geologic, operational, measurement, reserves, engineering, midstream, land, environmental, regulatory, cadastral, imagery, cultural).
• Support data lifecycle management processes by managing data inputs and workflows, developing and automating processes where applicable.
• Integrate geospatial Web Applications with external data sources and establish workflows.
• Develop web-based mapping products and services in Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online, GeoEvent Server, GeoAnalytic Server, Image Server, Workforce for ArcGIS, and mobile GIS applications.
• Perform raster data editing and analysis.
• Support ongoing projects through the development of GIS-based maps for business applications.
• Support strategic GIS projects and deliverables, helping guide the technical and strategic direction.
• Develop training documentation and provide user training for geospatial web platforms and data workflow protocols.
• Design and produce mapping products that adhere to corporate cartographic & data management standards.
• Participate in GIS team meetings and outreach.
• Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Demonstrated experience using Esri ArcGIS Enterprise applications and extensions including Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro applications and extensions, and mobile GIS applications to build online applications.
• Experience with performing basic and advanced geospatial analysis working with geospatial databases and services with demonstrated ability to create derivative datasets.
• Experience with geospatial data entry and conversion, and ability to work with survey and georeferenced data.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in geospatial analysis with enterprise web application configuration and development required.
• Proficiency in Esri applications, including ArcGIS Enterprise (Server) and ArcGIS Pro applications and extensions.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise SDE (SQL) and database administration preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with HTML, JavaScript, and Python preferred.
• Experience with automation using FME or other scripting tools preferred.
• Experience in oil and gas industry strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements:

• Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
• Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
• Travel required to the Civitas office and field locations.
