The City of Richmond Office of the Real Estate Assessor has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. The Office is current accepting applications for the position of GIS Analyst. The incumbent will be responsible for using mapping software to analyze spatial data and create digital maps using geographic information and numerous other data sets. To be successful in this role, candidates must have both technical expertise and familiarity with a wide range of fundamental platforms relative to geospatial data. Attention to detail and excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills are essential to have.
- Creating digital maps using geographic information and other sources of data
- Taking inventory, troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving computer hardware and software problems
- Using survey monuments, GPS, and other data as controls for georeferencing digital maps to ensure that they correspond to actual ground locations
- Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types
- Using data visualization to produce reports based on geographic information
- Daily troubleshooting of internal software programs used
- Modification and drawing of GIS parcels for new subdivisions
- Performing other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in information technology, geography, geographical information systems, or a directly related field.
- Two (2) years of professional level GIS programming, analysis, data management, and/or cartographic product experience.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:- A current and valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and a current and valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license within 30 days of hire is required
